I'm debating picking up a 980 Ti if they drop to $300 or less. So many choices...

Haven't seen one go down past $395, you might be waiting a while.

Nice. I would consider it if I were doing an MSI build, but the graphics are a little too specific for my use.

Well I got my G1 yesterday and got some time to play with it last night. Seemed to be getting pretty comparable framerates to the benchmarks listed at the same settings so all seems well in that category. I downloaded the Gigabyte xtreme gaming app and that seems to be very problematic... Causes extreme stutter in Fallout 4 when it's open and I did have an issue with Overwatch to that may or may not have been caused by it. Seems like it's because it has some sort of OSD that you can't really turn off in the settings you can just tell it not to display if that makes any sense. Also it seemed like when I was playing games according to the software I was only getting a max of like 92% GPU utilization. Not sure if that is a driver issue or something else going on.

Overall though card seems really well made and is very quiet. I maxed out the fans to see and they weren't even all that loud. Definitely exactly what I was looking for. No droop either with the back plate.

Here's a Firestrike Ultra result if anyone is interested

I cancelled my order for FE 1080 and changed it to 1070 Gaming X, which I wanted to SLI later on when RX480 launches and prices settle, but yesterday I got a message that the whole shipment of Gaming X has been postponed and they won't arrive until July mad.gif
Either gonna look for them somewhere else or just wait for mid July to buy.

I feel I need to vent some of my thoughts so... i finally got sick of the whole European prices and lack of stock and got myself a new 980 Ti Classy for the same price as a standard 1070.

The whole situation (SLI HB bridges MIA, heavy price gouging, no real performance per clock gains, etc) makes me feel I'm being played around with so I'm jumping the Pascal/Paxwell ship.

That said, I might do a step-up in the future if the 1080 gets down to a less abusive price.

Best decision you could make. 1070 is not stronger than 980ti and proven to be pita in a lot of cases.
I did the same btw:) was thinking of 1070, waiting for it to be in stock but everyday was reading more and more about it, and not surprisingly, Pascal isn't a miracle improvement over Maxwell as Nvidia claimed.

good decision if you're sticking to a single card.
we've already had a hundred pages of discussion about comparing two cards which are THE SAME in terms of performance.
If you're sticking to a single card, both are equally good.
in SLI, I'd rather go 1070 (like I'm actually doing..... biggrin.gif )

an X70 card equaling prev X80Ti card at lower draw sounds pretty damn good to me

doesnt make any sense to me to get a 980Ti now that 1070 is out and offers more then Maxwell (VR, DX12_1, some improvement in DX12 (its undeniable that it does better in DX12 then Maxwell because Maxwell actually loses performance in DX12 in some cases, Pascal does not and may gain a bit), future optimizations) as well as 2GB extra VRAM, unless you are getting 980Ti considerably cheaper

but hey 980Ti is still a beast of a card so its not a bad purchase
