They have tested the Lightning as well, albeit not at 1500, but 1430 and 7.1GHz memory. It scored 52.2fps. So i guess at 1500MHz/ 8GHz it would end up close to 2100MHz gtx1070.

You are probably right.

Here there are benchmarks from witcher 3 ( 2k ultra settings, max details, hairworks and hbao+ disabled )
They got the 1070 strix to nearly 2150 mHz without voltage adjustments and for me I think under water and with some voltage adjustments u can get even further

We don't really have a large enough sample size to know if 2100 plus (or even 2000 plus) is going to be achievable on all cards. We aren't really even sure if the performance return is worthwhile. Time will tell but I still think that the 1070 is the better bet, you will probably get more for it later on than you would the 980ti, if that matters.

This is why I still don't see the need to upgrade at least not this generation. Until someone can actually release a display (1440p 120hz IPS, 4K IPS) that's worth a hoot without a ton of QC issue's I'm sticking with 1440p maxed out everything at 60fps.

If the XB271HU is anything like the XB270HU, expect extremely sketchy (by that I mean non-existent) QC. For example I have uneven backlight (not bleeding but uneven) on mine, and the OSD controls died on me within 3 months. mad.gif

Like I said there really isn't a good option right now. My PB278Q is perfect. These IPS panels with high refresh rates seem to be garbage. I'm tempted to pick up the Dell 1440p 120hz but I don't think I could settle for a TN ever again. At least its a quality product unlike the current offerings from Asus and Acer.

I just linked you why they're (or at least XB271HU) not garbage, but ok

and Id rather use a 144hz IPS even if it had QC issues than be stuck at 60hz or with a TN

TN is just trash, the angles make TN nigh-unusable to me, I dont always sit perfectly straight in front of it .. and I cant go back to 60Hz after seeing 144, especially if you have the GPU to support it
