I was never a fan of EVGA i'm not sure why people are too, i mean their step up program is nice, but otherwise meh. My g1 970 is phenomenal, oced 1500/8000 @ 60% fan speed 24/7 no louder than my 140mm fans at 700rpm and never goes above 70C under full load. With headphones on, open back ones mind you, the PCs low hum vanishes when some sound gets going biggrin.gif

I'm still undecided if i want a 1070 or a 1080 at this point as i recently went for a 1440p 144hz monitor so i can benefit from the 1080 even more so, but i know for sure i'll be buying gigabyte again.

^This, I had a 670 SC I ordered at launch waiting to go in a build when I got all the parts together. When threads started popping up on forums mentioning a defect and a recall I PM'ed Jacob asking how I might find out if my card was included in those recalled. He asked for the serial number and less than 24 hours later replied that the RMA (which I hadn't even applied for yet) was approved. 7 days later I had a 670 FTW on my doorstep. If customer support is a card buyers primary concern EVGA is the best choice.

Do we still have temperature thresholds in the 1000 series wherein it starts to downclock when that threshold is reached? I'm asking this because I live in a tropical country where an ambient of 34C is normal so imaging how high the load temps of GPU's here are.

Sure do, I'd try to get the model with the best cooling, that would depend on your case and fan setup too.

ie gaming case with loads of airflow then non-blower cooler.

Case with limited airflow/exhaust then blower cooler.

Right. I have optimal case airflow that's why I always opt for AiB cards that are non-blower type. What is the threshold though?

I bought a NVidia 1070 yesterday from BestBuy and so far I have noticed it performs a little better on 1080p games. I plan on buying at least a 1440p monitor in the future.

My local Microcenter is charging $519 for the EVGA ACX 3.0 1070. So much for us hitting that $400-$450 price tag on the AIB's.

I have just ordered an MSI 1070 Gaming X for £420 from Overclockers.co.uk; upgraded from an OG Titan. According to reviews I should be getting approximately 2 times the performance that I am currently getting with a stock Titan at 1080p. I may keep the 1070 if the 1080ti is more than £700.

Looking forward to playing with it when it arrives tomorrow.
