280x 1200p, high settings in crappy ports, ultra possible in well done games, to keep above 60fps, no AA except SMAA which is super fast, ultra or everything maxed out, haha 280x is gonna dive into 30 or something at 1080p because those effects while not looking any better than high settings just consume all power they can especially MSAA and particles and so on. So it's usable well on 1080p if you set it right and don't just blindly drop in ultra with all nonsense effects ON. GTAV above 60fps, no problem on high-very high. It's good for some but it's time to replace these older cards for others.

I Just sold my GTX 970 with waterblock for $300 i'm ready for GTX 1070 smile.gif
post #603 of 1194
Just looked at some benchmark and a 280x is half the fps of the 1070 most of the time... And even half of 1080 sometime...

Kinda dissapointing...

4k performance is really bad for a 3x tflop gpu Memory bottlenecked probably to make the 1080ti appear better.

13 fps in one of my game maxxed out at 5760x1080... Getting a 1070 would probably give me 25-30 fps..... lachen.gif

I want 40 +

On high res, it's better to take dual cards. There is no single card that can deal 4k res and above. If I were you I would probably go with 1070 SLI /Polaris CF /980TI second hand at this point.

Linking an article with information is another.

Or you can just link to Asus wink.gif

GPU-controlled fan headers seem like an interesting idea and seems to make a lot of sense. If nothing else, it provides 2 additional fan headers which are short in supply on a number of mITX motherboards.

Strange stuff about the GPCs. If true, this means either Nvidia can keep SMs enabled in a disabled GPC (doubt it) or they are limiting their cut-down options to a single GPC per chip.

The latter would give them a lot less flexibility in which specific SMs they could disable (i.e. can't be across multiple GPCs; if there's a defect in a single GPC, the whole thing and no SMs from another must be disabled).

Also it mean that 1070 have 48rops or can only use 48Rops...And i am not sure if its 256bit or 192bit

Pixel fillrate should be same(both should have 64rops), but 1080 have 33% better pixel fillrate=1070 have 48Rops/can use only 48rops(48+33%=64rops)

We need test 1070 just like 970 if its true 256bit card or its 192+64bit and 6+2GB

One thing that irks me about any gaming benchmarks is they run titles at absolutely maxxed settings, there are very few that do reviews that may show the performance of a gpu at high settings or lower. Normally going from Ultra to High nets a really huge fps boost, large enough where running a heavy resolution like 4k would be completely playable. For example, maxxed out Witcher 3 on my 970 @ 1080p runs on average 40-60 fps somewhere in that range with hairworks off. Dropping it down to high gets me north of 80 fps on average which is very pleasing on a 144hz monitor and gsync. The graphical difference is barely noticeable, yet i get a huge boost in performance and that fluidity is far more valuable than a tiny bit of eye candy.

I'm actually excited to get the 1070 and get witcher 3 over 100 fps on high settings tongue.gif

This is interesting. I guess ppl thinking about SLI 1070 definitely should hold back until this issue is cleared.
