Wait for the reviews of the custom cards before claiming Pascal GPUs cant overclock.

I think it's unlikely that they will start needing more than 4GB of VRAM, but it totally depends on the games and the settings you're running. I also have no idea what fighting games are coming out this or next year. Tekken 7 also hasn't been confirmed for PC yet.

What do you mean by Arcade games?

It depends on resolution.

At 1080p, I doubt many games go past 3 GB. At 1440p you need more than 4GB on newer games. Not to mention 4k.

I thought Tekken 7 was coming to PC. Did their long survey a while back. At the moment been playing Killer Instinct,Mortal Kombat X,Ultra Street Fighter IV,GUILTY GEAR Xrd. And playing old arcade games on MAME. I meant arcade style like games that i can play with the arcade stick or racing wheel only.

Tekken 7 is all but confirmed on PC. The arcade machines I've seen are literally PCs running Windows. It's just not officially confirmed.
Hopefully it does release around the time the console versions do though.

MAME games will run fine even on older GPUs.
Some of the newer racing games can be fairly demanding to run like Project Cars at 1440p. But I must admit I've been out of touch on some of the newer racing game releases so I'm not really sure.

The current fighting games that are out now on PC run fine on the GTX 970 at 1440p, I don't know about any of the future fighting games as I haven't heard of any new announcements.

The 3dmark score is slightly slower than my two OC 7970's but only at 150 watts, that is plain ridiculous. Waiting for the Polaris stuff before making a decision, I am just worried that we will not get any blocks for the AMD cards and I am 100% sure that EK will make blocks for the 1070.

While this is clearly a good card if you are running anything above 970/390 you might as well wait for the big chips as this card will not be able to run games a 4k@60 without turning down the settings. Which means that it will be stuck at 1440p just like the card you already own.

I am all in and dumping my 2 7970's for a 1070, as well as buying a 2k Gsync monitor. Crossfire has almost become worthless at this point. Nothing but microstutter issues and basically every new title I have wanted to play either didn't support crossfire near launch or didn't at all. Even if my OC'd 7970s are faster in benchmarks I am sure that absolutely would not transfer to an equal or anywhere near as good of gaming experience as a single 1070. I actually made the transition easier and sold off one of my 7970's the other day. I figured every game I will be playing until the 1070 comes out won't need or can't use 2 video cards properly.

The 1070 on paper looks to be a solid upgrade over xfire 7970's, but I just don't want to worry about upgrading again next year when the big chips drop. I will try and hold out until the dust settles to see if I can pick up two high end 28nm cards for cheap, if not I will get one of these mid range 1440p cards on the new nodes and pick up another next year when people start to sell their cards to buy the big chips.
