I clearly see two FE in the photos, and there is no mention of mismatched cards.

yup that's what I think too.
I sold my 980ti, can buy 1070 Gaming X for the same price and enjoy the silence of running twinfrozr at 40% or buy a 2nd hand Titan X, but the performance differences between all of these 3 cards are maybe within ~3%
1080 Gaming X out of the box will be +25% over my 980Ti 6G Gaming, and it'll still run cooler and quieter. I got $800 for a budget and I'm in no hurry to buy so I'll not rush any purchase tho...

Read Eurogamer's review of the 1070 (I don't normally go there) and apparently the 1070 can be had from £330. Question: WHERE?!?

In the opening para they do say there has been a price hike as AIB 970s released at £250 but these are £330. But the price hike is actually around £140. As the cheapest non-reference design 1070 is MSI's Armour at £390. £390!!

https://www.overclockers.co.uk/search?sSearch=gtx+1070

970 released at £250
1070 currently at £390.

Shocking prices. The average price of the AIB 1070s is an absurb £400-450. That's approaching 980 Ti release prices ffs. These prices will likely drop but not for a good several weeks I am betting. So as it stands right now, the astonishing price/performance value of 1070 is in reality 980 Ti+ performance around 1 year later, for a £60-70 discount. Hardly as great as the reviewers made this card out to be in terms of value proposition. Certainly in the UK and worse still in Europe from what I have read.

Yep, pretty steep. Cheapest 1070 at my go-to retailer is 470€, most cost 500€ though. Priciest one is 530€.
Not that good of a deal for 980Ti performance...

Why do people keep posting comments suggesting that NVidia is somehow responsible to price current gen based on past gen?

Idk, I feel like it'll be a waste for 1080p but then again the performance you get for what you pay is..... Hard to resist.

GTX1070 for 1080P is just about fine if you're aiming for 120~144FPS on AAA titles, its not that much of an overkill.
