980ti Definitely catches up when both are OC'd, but it doesn't surpass the 1070 in every game, they trade blows. Based on the 1070's price, there's no reason to buy a 980ti for more then $350-400 at this point. Especially considering power consumption.
Wasn't that 980ti stock cooler?Someone showed that a custom 980ti with 20something more mehaherz on core was 11% better on firestrike than overclockersclub bcoz it didn't throttle like with stock cooler?Going by memory here.

+1 agreed.

Interesting that the price of a 980ti has just dropped £100.00 GBP overnight on overclockers.co.uk

Currently...

MSI GeForce GTX 1070 ARMOR OC 8192MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Price £389.99
Boost 1746 MHz / Base 1556 MHz
8192 MB GDDR5 / 8008 MHz Memory

https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/GeForce-GTX-1070-ARMOR-8G-OC.html#hero-overview

vs.

MSI GeForce GTX 980Ti Armor 2X 6144MB GDDR5 PCI-Express Graphics Card
Price £399.99 down from £509.99 (lol)
Boost 1190 MHz / Base 1102 MHz
6144 MB GDDR5 / 7010 MHz Memory

https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/GTX-980-Ti-6GD5T-OC.html#hero-overview

Kind of a no brainer really - or maybe I should pickup a cheap 980ti on fleabay for £250.00 which is about their price point imo.

If the power consumption and new features (VR, DX12 etc.) are not important to you then it really is a coin toss. It's possible that a year from the the 1070 will be the more clear cut winner in terms of performance since it is keeping up on it's launch drivers right now but that isn't a sure thing considering how similar they are architecturally.

Yes stock cooler, but they hit 63C Max on the 980ti temp due to running at 100% fan on all there OC cards. Also they don't mention whether they are using system score or graphics score. If they are using system score (which is possible since this was a comparison review) then the 11% difference you are talking about makes sense. Even the 1070 Firestrike extreme score is low for a graphics score, which makes me think it's system score. TweakTown got 8887 graphics score on the 1070 FE at stock clocks, which is about the same as what they got on 980ti AMP (8899)

I think my order somehow got cancelled. I just checked my bank statements and the charge is no longer on my account.

Just got an email in my spam folder with a delivery date of Thursday. Although the charge is still not back on my account. If I get this card with no charge that would be hilarious.
