True. However those didn't carry as much data (=quality shielding necessary) as a card in image creating mode, most of those were PCIe 1x.

Relax, I used those cheap 16x risers in a SFF rig, it did just fine without additional shielding. It was folded too.

The GPU died because a cable stopped the fan and it ran Folding at Home in a closed closet with no airflow.

But while it worked, it worked fine.

Anyway, a large (100+) batch should certainly be realistic at <30$, which means, realistic price of the case in mass production shouldn't exceed 180$.

Reading this I think I got the same sensation that a parent gets when reading about one of those horrific child abuse crimes in the newspaper.
