I paid MSRP for my Founders Edition 1070s, only because they happened to be on the shelf, I was able to sell my TITAN X and waterblock to cover most of the cost of the two 1070s, and they didn't have the 1080 in stock.

The 1080 is so much faster than anything else that isn't overclocked to the gills, that's where all the activity is, at least for right now.

True, and I hate that. I think Nvidia could have done much better on the value front if they had lowered the MSRP for the 1070 even by $30. It is what it is, though.

Honestly, my GTX 1070 SLI setup is beastly. I will not require anything better for literally years.

My 1500/1989 results from 980Ti. Wondering if I should get rid of the 980Ti. (AKA slap it into an folding rig for 24/7 folding along with the others.) and get myself either a 1080 or 1070. Can someone post benchmarks to the firestrike Extreme test for me?

I would love if they're were overclocked pretty good. 24/7 stable OC and not benchstable. thumb.gif

Cheers! smile.gifcheers.gif

You probably want the 3-slot adapter, then. I found this on Nvidia's website.

Very true. With what consumers expect, it costs a tad too much for a hair too little performance. And prices are still relatively inflated. The cheapest GTX 1070 is still 15% over MSRP---maybe still high demand, maybe "FE" pricing, maybe price gouging, maybe anything.

GTX 970: $330 MSRP, on-par with GTX 780 Ti @ $700
GTX 1070: $380 MSRP, on-par with GTX 980 Ti @ $650

But, you can look at it the other way: you get a much cooler, 8GB, async-enabled GTX 980 Ti for about $430. Progress is good. smile.gif

Why exactly? Where is the public statement? Why was it removed? I never downloaded mine, was waiting for the next BIOS update. But what if they pull this down and then won't post another one?

I wouldn't trade a 1500 MHz 980 Ti for a 1070, I don't think. For comparison, my GTX 1070 FSE score at 2050/+500 is 8819/9603.

Sure!
This was during Fire Strike bench.
I am not using the curve.

Since you already have an overclocked 980 Ti, don't get a 1070 unless you are running VR, plan to SLI, or you really need that extra 2 GB of VRAM right now.

+1

If you already have a 980 Ti that's overclocked there's no need on wasting any money and getting a GTX 1070 since overclocking is limited on it anyway thus far.

If you have the cash for the GTX 1080, that would be an upgrade. Otherwise there's no need for minimal FPS gains here and there.
