My 670's are showing their age, especially since a lot of games no longer support SLI. Can't wait to try it out. Should be here next Wednesday.

I had a windforce cooler before on my previous card, the MSI Gaming X I got is definitely quieter, that's for sure. And my temperatures are brilliant too.

So I'm 90% it's both quieter and cooler.

If a 1060 can OC to around 2ghz then why should I opt for a 1070 and just save myself some money... I guess I'm really asking what's the real differences in the 1060 and the 1070 that warrants spending the extra money.

Well the 1070 clocks at similar speeds to the 1080 but doesn't perform the same. And here's the best way to explain it:

The GTX 1080 has 2560 CUDA Cores
The GTX 1070 has 1920 CUDA Cores
The GTX 1060 has 1280 CUDA Cores

So even if all 3 GPU's are clocked at exactly 2000MHz Core Speed and the exact same memory speed. There's a big gap in performance between all three. Well big, relatively speaking.

Oh and don't forget the GTX 1080 has the advantage of not only having the most CUDA Cores, but also GDDR5X Memory instead of GDDR5 like the GTX 1070 & 1060.

Sorry I misread your question. I thought you mean how many watt your system is using total lol.

GTAV sucked on my old cards. can't wait to try on Strix 1070.

Can you post your Freq graph and voltage graph as well? (from MSI AB or w.e)

So many assumptions have been made that this architecture doesn't do well with higher voltages. Why is that? The cards that we're being tested that made those assumptions we're the Founder's Editions. The cards we're rocking have much cleaner power delivery. I absolutely refuse to believe that'll be the case with our AIB cards.

It's the same idea with overclocking a proc on a lower end motherboard and a motherboard meant for overclocking. of COURSE you'll get a nicer overclock with the motherboard that is meant for overclocking.

I just wanted a little more voltage. If you can go up to 1.15V, that´s far from the limit and could make some chips probably pas

i just got to ask a question.... smile.gif

i switched recently from "CPUz's HWM"... http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/hwmonitor.html

now i'm using "Open Hardware Monitor" and LUV it... http://openhardwaremonitor.org/

But only one prob with "Open Hardware Monitor" is, that it lacks a PSU (watts)... i luv everything else is much better than "CPUz's HWM"... (see pic)

anyone know what to use to complement "Open Hardware Monitor" so i can quickly see watts used by PSU (Current/Min/Max)?

Tanks!smile.gif

Make sure to use HWinfo.

Its the best you can use.

My msi 1070 aero with an ek block. I was able to hit a stable max overclock of 2166 on the core and +500 on the mem. All under 45c. I downgraded from a msi 1080 x.
