Compare the gpu score, not overall in 3dmark.

His memory might be pushed too far and it's error correcting.

@Deviem

Lower your vram clock and see if your score improves.

Flashing new bios and select "OC MODE"
https://www.msi.com/Graphics-card/support/GEFORCE-GTX-1070-GAMING-X-8G.html#down-bios

and new values for Afterburner.

I doubt this advice will work. The graphics score is not completely CPU-independent. If you have a crazily overclocked CPU on a brand-new Skylake platform with some amazing DDR4 memory sticks then the graphics score may be pushed up that way. This guy's CPU is not overclocked much, but it has 6 physical cores and 12 threads... also he's got 65GBs of RAM for crying out loud! I had my memory offset dialed in at +500 (leading to more than 9.2Ghz) and I just tried running Firestrike with the memory offset halved to +250... and the graphics score definitely went down...

Probably what's happening.

If I take my vram any higher than that (9316), my scores tank.

How did you flash the BIOS?

Nice score with stock voltage.
