Thank you I read the whole thing but I thought you were referring to BIOS software. I didn't know what m8 was. I am new to graphic card/mother board bios and stuff. Forgive my ignorance. Now I understand little better.I will try this out in the evening and let you know. Thank you so much.

i got 2 of these bad boys! i just can not wait for custom bios so i can pertinently set custom fan curves.

oh, and i had to remove the HDD bay as the GPU's were too long so i screwed the SSD to the side mesh, not too glamorous but it works.

Is there much point to water cooling these cards, especially if you get an after market card with a better/quieter cooler? Seems like the extra voltage doesn't really do much for the 1070s. Of course if I do that, I'll have a full custom loop with two radiators only for my CPU, while now it is cooling CPU and 2 video cards...

Is there anyone else like me potentially going from 970 SLI to a single 1070? Don't really want to spend the amount the 1080 costs and selling my two 970s used will help cover the cost of the 1070. Then I wont have to deal with the 10 billion SLI issues such as no support at all and if the game does support it then it typically has poor scaling and/or poor frametimes. Plus, 8 GB of memory is nice for 1440p versus only 3.5gb functional memory on the 970.

It will be interesting to see how SLI develops in future DX12 games since it has to be built into the engine. Might see much better scaling/frametimes, alternatively since it takes more effort could see 0 support.

only if you have 2. i say this as one of my 2 cards in the pic above thermal throttles in my case as the two together get quite hot.

that rig isnt special, its a F@H rig, and not my main gaming rig. it has an i3-6100 with 8GB DDR4 ram. also, everything minus the GPU's cost less than 1 of these 1070 FTW's. but it does push out ~1,350,000 points per day, folding at home.
