Somehow, I am really waiting for Vega's release more than I would want a RX 480 at this point. Besides, I haven't run an NVIDIA card in ages.

I guess I can add mine when I get it, which should be tomorrow.

Ha!... did exactly this.
Just got Newegg notified a few mins ago, caved and added the MSI 1070 to cart and completed.
My initial plan was to grab 480 and ride it till Vega, but I may just ride the 1070 till Vega.

Mainly came here to ask how much people paid for their 1070s, I am Canadian but the currency conversion may just be right.

(Americanized; In USD)
Subtotal: $438.44
Handling: $0.00
Shipping: $9.23
GST/HST: $22.38 [tax]

Total Amount: $470.05

We Canadians paying more, less, just right?
I feel a bit overpriced for the GTX x70 range.
Last NV card I had was the GTX 670 and I paid $415usd for it (x2)

Hi there,

I paid 3600RMB tax inclusive in a high street store in Ningbo, China. At current exchange rates this is:

US$540 (ouch...)
CAD$700 (double ouch...)
EU488 (great...) --> In Germany my card currently costs EU499, so I got a slightly better deal in China. Also I am glad that my card overclocks stably really well and that there is practically no coil whine...

Wow dam thats expensive. but if thats normal for you then grats.

I still need to figure how to OC and get the 2100 I just heard about. sounds like a fantastic number.

From my experience in terms of effective extra FPS you can actually see in benchmarks and games there is practically no difference between running the GPU at, say, 2050-2075Mhz or >2100Mhz. You are gaining 1-2FPS here and there at best, probably at the cost of having to increase fan speeds a bit and worry that you rig may crash on you.

So if you can get >2000Mhz without any dynamic throttling below this threshold this is already good enough! Also I am harboring the suspicion that with Pascal GPUs the extra performance gains you get from increasing clock speeds is not linear... which means at the high-end you see diminishing returns in terms of extra FPS...

...by the way, the new MSI Gaming X 1080 costs 5800RMB in my city Ningbo = CAD$1150 = US$880... I almost considered buying it... but then though, nahhh that's crazy! For a meagre extra 20-25% performance increase, much better option to try and overclock the hell out of the EU500 1070 card and leave it at that!

Where'd you get yours? Mine was about $633 after taxes and shipping on NewEgg. Got the MSI Gaming X version. Had an order for the Gaming originally, but figured I'd pay the extra ~$15 to help it's resale value if I end up deciding to sell it.

I was also thinking about getting the RX 480 at first and "roughing" it out till the bigger cards came out, but I knew I'd probably regret not going for the extra oomph. I may just end up keeping it when the bigger cards come out since I won't be playing any demanding shooters on my 1440p monitor anyways!

Looking forward to the upgrade as I was using a GTX 780 for quite some time.

Actually just came here to ask about the X and Non-X variants.
I didnt notice there were two different ones, got the non-X and same place Newegg, thats probably why our Totals are off.

Main Q, are the MSI Gaming X just better binned cards or are you just paying the extra for the factory overclock? would hate find out I grabbed the lesser binned card to save $15 =/ (well mainly I didnt know there were Non-X versions, haha)

Wow this is interesting. The non-X must be a asian and/or north american thing, cause they arent on sale in europe.

On a side note, i happen to notice that my gtx 1070 Jetstream has dual bios switch.
That might sound stupid, but how do i use it? Can i keep the pc on, or do i need to turn the pc off, then switch the bios and start the pc?

try and copy the following OC profile into your profiles folder located in the MSI Afterburner installation folder... this profile STARTS with an initial clock speed of 1126Mhz, but should settle down to a sustainable 1101Mhz in Heaven and Valley in the long-run:

VEN_10DEDEV_1B81SUBSYS_33061462REV_A1BUS_1DEV_0FN_0.txt 13k .txt file

... in order to upload the file I had to change the file ending (suffix) to txt, but you need to rename this to cfg before copying it into the correct folder. I saved this as my SLOT1 profile in the latest beta version of MSI Afterburner (4.3.08352 beta). I changed this post and uploaded a more conservative profile, because the first one gave me a small amount of artefacts.

Lower your vram clock and see if your score improves.

Yeah I'll try lowering memclocks later today when I get home. I was actually wondering the lowish gfx score. There was no visible artifacting during the run though. Thanks for the tip, sir!
