G'day lads -

Got my G1 Gaming week or so ago. Love the card - absolutely awesome increase in virtually all aspects over my twin gigabyte windforce 290's.

Running on a 1440P 144hz screen.

Stable OC @ 2113mhz & 8800mhz

HOWEVER - as soon as the card idles down or I do a windows restart / boot up it artifacts and either hardlocks or BSODS. It appears there isn't enough voltage being feed to it with that mem OC applied from its downclocked position. When the power is up and cranking I can edge it the OC out of it safely and run long BF4 sessions no worries.

Bios issue? Faulty card? Got me stumped.

Happens on both Afterburner & Gigabyte Xtreme Software however I can at least boot with the XTREME software around 300mhz Mem OC applied.

EVGA precision X OC ( unlcoked voltage for the 1070/1080 )

This is what you need i think ;-)

Yes, but also note that when I use manaul voltage curve, I lose FPS at same frequencies, test this.

Tried the precision software - still does it unfortunately. As soon as it requires the smallest amount of graphics processing (i.e. opening the calculator to desktop) it artifacts and either BSODS with VIDEO_SCHEDULLAR_INTERNAL_ERROR or hardlocks and restarts

- Might try a format and clean windows 10 install - I have recently just changed them out from the 290's and was really hoping to avoid formatting...

You would be better off to RMA the graphics card, it should not being doing this.

Geezus really?? that's a damn shame as it OC's well - and there was another guy on here with the same issue - under what grounds can I RMA it as still works perfectly in its stock config?

Would it not be fixed with a bios update or something?

Also in saying that - on gigabytes website there is a new bios (F2_BETA) but it states that the BIOS's can only be flashed with the same VBIOS. Mine is F10......

What are the risks of trying to flash it to the F2_BETA bios to see if that helps the issue?

Flash it no risk at all, but as far as i know it fixes only fan issues, i have answered you already in guru3d forum, not gonna repeat myself...but shortly - no need to RMA the card IMO

Happens on both Afterburner & Gigabyte Xtreme Software however I can at least boot with the XTREME software around 300mhz Mem OC applied.

i had a 2x 760's and before that 2x 560ti's and no BSODs watsoever. But with my new 2x 1070's, i got two weeks ago, i had some BSODs during the 1st ten days, but successfully got rid of them.

A. understand that the Windows/Minidump Folder is where the BSOD info is saved and that the .dmp files there can help prove a lot and are well worth reading. But u can skip that if u want.

B. Reset any OCing, then uninstall all Video Utilities, uninstall Hardware Monitoring Utilities and finally uninstall the Video Drivers. (and after uninstall, then shut down and use only ur Primary Monitor... meaning, if u have more than one monitor unplug all other one(s) and only after "Step C" below, plug them back in.)

C. do a clean install of the Video drivers and install only something (utility) to monitor temperatures but skip installing any Video Utilities. and don't adjust any Fan speeds and don't OC. simply monitor temperatures of Vid cards and their fan speeds and PC hardware temps.

D. Run a benchmark like Heaven or Valley and if they seem fine, play a few games. Test restarting, full Shut down, test Logging-Off and Logging-On PC a few times.

E. If no Hardlocks or BSODs occur, then install the newest MSI Afterburner Beta, but don't change anything and repeat D (^^).

F. adjust fan speeds if u want and run PC a few days to be sure no BSODs or Hardlocks occur with all defaults before finally OCing.

GL

My problems have not returned since doing the above. smile.gif cards and whole PC are running perfectly!

if problems don't go away; and the .DMP files point to just the Video card drivers, as the cause, then start with a fresh OS.
