MSI

Zotac

Zotac will be faster out of the box at stock settings. The Gaming Z is more comparable than the X in the stock performance stakes.
Both OC to about the same levels.
MSI is one of the quietest cards around
Zotac much larger so check available space
Zotac draws more power than the MSI

Yea that's what I mostly meant smile.gif picking brands that appear less prone to it. It's certainly not equal across the brands from what I've observed. I've read little to no complaints pertaining to coil whine for MSI this generation and my first MSI card is free of it. But I had 3 Gigabte cards that had it to varying degrees (with the last one being the least annoying and fathomably quiet).

Another thing I meant by "careful picking" is actually listening for the issue and testing across multiple games. Dying Light, for example, caused my Gigabyte card to screech like no other. It's much easier to RMA it through the retailer than the brand I think so it's better to figure it out sooner than later. smile.gif

So I have 1 gigabyte windforce x2 oc card and debating on getting a 2nd for games like witcher 3 and crysis 3 etc. At 1440p the 1070 alone just doesn't quite cut it. So what does everyone think ? Is the 1070 sli worth it or wait for 1080ti and sell the 1070 or wait for next gen and deal with turning down a setting or 2 (hairworks off is beautifully playable on the witcher 3 and 2tsaa is fine for 60+ in crysis 3). The one thing I know is the Pascal cards are fairly new so I will get a ton of life out of 2 1070s. Thanks for any input guys.

Well the gtx980 was out for 22 months. Nearly 2 years before GTX1080 was released. That's a nice long cycle to keep a video card! I think I would either buy a GTX1080 for around $500-600 used or new, after selling your 1070 ofcourse. Or wait until 1080Ti.

Look at the official Nvidia P6000 specs it's a quadro card base on Titan X P, only it has more cuda cores at 3,840. So, it's going to be fast! If the GTX1080Ti has the same specs as the P6000 like it is speculated to have. It will be a true 4K card. And even faster than Titan X Pascal!

I use my GTX1080 for 4K, I do not run AA. And I may turn down a setting or two. Some games with gtx1080 going from 1440P to 2160P only lose 10fps in performance.

I guess it all depends on gtx1080ti price. The Titan X is $1200 so, to may be $999. So, (2) used 1080's for $1,000 seems like a better value.

Ya only issue is I'm in Canada. So cheapest 1070s are $560 CAD + 13% tax and cheapest 1080s are $900 CAD + 13% tax. Mssive price increase for 20% performance increase.
