Yeah I am currently setting the power limit to 50, the problem is that if you check out the charts in that link, the fe at 50% power limit consumes only ~70 watts while the gaming x consumes ~110. Idle power usage is also twice as high on the gaming x as the FE. I saw somewhere that this could be because the gaming x added frequency bins at the top and removed some from the bottom limiting the frequency it could drop down to when idle.

I agree with Nukemaster. I would not try to flash a FE Bios to a MSI Gaming X.
If you don't mind me asking, way did you purchased a 1070 with a very high power consumption if power usage is the most important factor for you?

In the past I used OBS to stream, but I had help setting it up from someone who already had it running and I remember there was a lot going on so I don't think I want to try it all over again.

Is Shadow Play or whatever it is called actually pretty decent? I have zero experience with it.

I think for now I would just record current gameplay and not stream and then I can cut out scenes I want to keep and delete the rest since I assume it takes up some good HDD space. Perhaps I would be better off with the "record my last 10 minutes" button and I can selectively use it when something worth saving occurs. Is that feature included with Shadow Play or whatever other software you may recommend?

Do try shadow play. I tried it and FPS hit was almost zero, whereas when i tried to record with FRAPS for example, it was horrible.

MSI Afterburner has recording that works pretty good the times I tried it.

I had bought it when I lived at a different place and where I am living now doesn't have air conditioning so I am trying to limit how much the computer heats up my room, I have an undervolted i7 5775c to, jsut trying to go for minimum power draw, and heat, while maintaining the best performance I can.

Noise also bothers me so I want the fans turned as low as possible

Switched G1 Gaming for AMP! Extreme

So i just sold my G1. It was an ok card, but it ran to hot and pretty loud.

HERES SS of G1 in action Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Card runs much quieter and cooler. Temp when OCed and in game is 66-70C. Besides that fans are much quieter than G1s. Those spin much faster and generaly louder. So in regard to that, i am very pleased with the upgrade. Those my 2 main reasons why i upgraded.

Here's AMP E gaming session, medium OC Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

MAX OC Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

As far as the OCing goes, it is just ok. The memory overclocks just fine to 9222mhz effective, but with GPU i just didn't hit the silicon lottery i guess. I was hoping for 2100-2150 Mhz range of stable core clock, but mine is stable at max 2088mhz. Oh and i have a Samsung memory module.
Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

Q1: Does using different OCing tools have any role in here? I was using MSI afterburner ofc, but would using stock Zotac be any beneficial?
Q2: Does anyone know a BIOS to flash to let my card use 125% power or more?
tl;dr

Lovely, quiet, cool running card. Memory overclocks fine, GPU not so much.

Yes, I'm from the Philippines. Well, that's good news then. That correlates to the information I got from the dsitributor wherein their last shipment from Zotac was first week of July.

How were you able to confirm that the one you got is from the new shipment? Did you have a "waiting period" until the new stocks arrived?

Noob question - I received my 1070 today and this is my first time upgrading a GPU. Do I uninstall my previous 970 drivers or do I just stick in the 1070 and then update from GeForce experience? thumb.gif

Nvidia drivers are the same for all cards, so it really doesn't matter. I'd install the new card, then do a clean install (click the clean install check box in the installer) with the newest drivers.

^This, before the wave of DDU recommenders say otherwise.
