So I feel like my card is overclocking by default with the gigabyte program? I have the G1 and Doom has been crashing randomly sometimes and HW monitor shows max core speed at 2050 when this happens. I have to open the program and manually click "Eco" mode every single time and I have noticed it doesn't crash when I do that. Any suggestions?

Am I correct in saying MSI Gaming X is the quietest 1070? I don't think anything else uses fans as big or as quiet.
Bigger fans = lower RPMs = less noise

I've seen that Palit is supposed to be very quiet as well but that's not available in NA

New stable settings, benchmarked in Ashes of the Singularity for that (seems to be the most sensitive):

Didn't see any gains going up to +600 on the memory clock so I dropped it to the +500's.

Get Afterburner 4.3.0 beta 4. You can increase voltage to 1093mv and get a few extra Mhz with the curve editor. I couldn't get past 2037 on 4.2.0, but I'm stable at 2088 with the beta.

Hello guys,

I've been a long time nVidia user except for the last two rounds where I went with AMD. I'm now looking to replace my 290x for 1440p gaming and it seems this round nVidia has the better offering.

I've set my eyes on the Gigabyte GTX 1070 G1 Gaming. Can those of you who already have this card recommend it? Are there any issues with the cooler design, power delivery, noise, artifacts, etc?

My last card from Gigabyte was a GTX 460 1 Gb model and was very pleased with it.

Thanks.

I got mine last night, managed to put +120MHz on core and +600Mhz on memory. I'm not sure about the voltage % in the Gigabyte software, I've put it to 75% with +11% power limit. I'll need to adjust the fan speed curve tho, it looks like the card is doing some thermal throttling.

I think the MSI Gaming X OC is better at overclock with a 10+1 phase power and the extra 6-pin. I paid $569 CAD for the Gigabyte ($438 USD) and the cheapest MSI Gaming X OC was at $634 CAD ($488). That's a premium price for a few more MHz.

I know Gigabyte announced a 1070 Extreme Gaming with an extra 6-pin connector and a higher OC out of the box, but don't think suppliers have it yet.

Thanks for the tip, I didn't realize there was a beta out.

Just got mine last night, so far so good. Haven't tried overclocking it yet, but at 100% load in Overwatch it never breaks 65C @ boost of 1965MHz with the fans at a slight hum (I think around 60% fan speed? not sure). Build quality doesn't seem the best but it's quiet and cool so I can't complain. smile.gif No coil whine that I can hear, although I have seen other people having coil whine issues with this model of 1070.

Using it on a 1440p/144hz display and it's dishing out crazy frames, would recommend.

I wouldn't trust an older version. I think the ASIC on these cards is going to need to be read differently than before. That's why the newest version says it is not supported.

Ok, thanks! I keep wondering if overall the MSI GX will be a better card over the EVGA SC due to the extra power it can take for OC.
