Nice. I thought I would give it a crack, too, and....

+150/+500, busted 20k

What's tempting is that I have a 2nd GTX 1070 that I am waiting for Nvidia to approve a return on, but it's unopened. I am so tempted to bust it out for some SLI action.

Lol. The i7 is only good for benchmarks... it doesn't do a damn thing in games. tongue.gif

I doubt I'll be able to go over +120MHz on core .. I tried +125 and got display driver errors.

GPU-Z log shows that it reached 2088MHz/2100MHz with a voltage of 1.0930.

thumb.gif

I have Core @ +106 MHz
And Memory @ +666 MHz

And get around 20700 graphic score. Tone them down to my settings and test (I found the lower memory speed to be helpful, I can push 800 MHz too, but 666 gave me better performance). You can keep core @ +120 MHz if you're sure it's stable.

If I even go to +110 MHz, the instability begins.

Obviously Core Voltage & Power Limit both maxed out.

20k here too:

+ 100 Mhz Core.

Rise of the Tomb Raider (Steam copy) PC Patch 7 - DX12, V-Sync Toggle, Async Compute

I've tested the latest Rise of the Tomb Raider patch (with single and SLI GTX 1070, see rig details in sig) which provides multi GPU support for DX12 as well as Async Compute. I ran the canned benchmark provided with the game each time. The only changes were to SLI enablement and DX11 to DX12.

To simplify the testing procedure, I tested in 1080p with maximum settings. I found that with everything cranked to the maximum in 1440p, DX12 would not run the game on an 8GB GPU. I would need to dial back the AA, but that would not provide a pure comparison between 1080p and 1440p, so I will leave that for another day.

To summarize my findings, moving from DX11 to DX12 with a single GTX 1070 (on my PC specific configuration) resulted in a decrease of 2% overall performance.

However, moving from DX11 to DX12 with multiple GTX 1070s resulted in an increase of 9% in overall performance.

Also, multiple GPUs scale better with my configuration in DX12 compared to DX11. I see a net increase of 9% moving from DX11 SLI to DX12 multi-gpu.

You can gain roughly 25% in scaling performance when moving from DX11 to DX12 with multiple GPUs compared to a single GPU in DX11 and DX12, respectively.

*Calculated as percent change (increase or decrease)

Mountain Peak
  1. DX11 SLI Diff (vs single GPU) 45%
  2. DX12 Multi Adapter Increase (vs single GPU) 69%
  3. DX11 to DX12 Single Adapter Diff -8%
  4. DX11 to DX12 Multi Adapter Diff 8%

Syria
  1. DX11 SLI Diff (vs single) 57%
  2. DX12 Multi Adapter Diff (vs single) 68%
  3. DX11 to DX12 Single Adapter Diff -2%
  4. DX11 to DX12 Multi Adapter Diff 5%

Geothermal Valley

  1. DX11 SLI Diff (vs single) 45%
  2. DX12 Multi Adapter Diff (vs single) 75%
  3. DX11 to DX12 Single Adapter Difference -4%
  4. DX11 to DX12 Multi Adapter Diff 16%

Overall
  1. DX11 SLI Diff (vs single) 52%
  2. DX12 Multi Adapter Diff (vs single) 70%
  3. DX11 to DX12 Single Adapter Diff -2%
  4. DX11 to DX12 Multi Adapter Diff 10%

Takeaways:

1) SLI / Multiple GPU support offers massive FPS increase in Rise of the Tomb Raider.
2) SLI scaling is very good.
3) Multi GPU support scales better in DX12 compared to DX11.
4) Do not bother with DX12 if you have one GPU at this time. DX11 offers better performance.

I tested by enabling and disabling SLI in the Nvidia control panel. ROTR picked up the change automatically in DX12, and performance was better across the board with SLI enabled. The only place I saw a dropoff in minimum framerates was in the Syria section with DX12 SLI.

AMD may show different results. I'm going to test my R9 Nano later on to see if there's a difference with AMD hardware on this patch.

You're damn right I am. Cards this fast should be impounded.

20.5k on the graphics score seems to be all I'm going to get out of this 1070 FE. Any higher on the core, and it errors out. Any higher on the memory, and I get graphical artifacts.
