I'm gonna dive into overclocking and validating tomorrow but was wondering what you guys are using to OC. I usually use MSI afterburner but it seems with an Asus card it just gives me a voltage slider 0-100% and no fancy freq/volt tool like precision.

can you please, please send me your bios file for that card? apparently the strix cards have higher voltage limits (1.25v) well at least the 1080 does. I would like to assume the 1070 does as well.

Afterburner is fine, all I need. Precision is a steaming pile. It grabs the keyboard at startup and doesn't let go for longer than should be reasonably necessary. It hangs in its sluggish UI. Onscreen monitoring doesn't work half the time, it doesn't show CPU temps, and on and on.

The voltage slider is an offset up to +100mv, not percentage points, just an FYI on that.

I have a feeling I'm a bit late to the party, but ensure your Fallout4.ini and Fallout4Prefs.ini (I might be off on the names) are not set to Read Only. I had this issue and that was what happened to me. Fallout 4 was still under the impression I had my GTX 780 (and I've had SLI 970s in the meantime redface.gif). You should be able to find the files in C:/.../Documents/My Games/Fallout4

Hit control F while in afterburner to get the boost/voltage curve.

Haha! Sure enough the .ini files were all read-only. But as you predicted, you were a bit late. I got frustrated and uninstalled the game. So yeah I'm not going to download and install it again just to test. Maybe after I buy a new SSD and format my PC completely.

I've already finished the game with my HD7970 (aka the 280X). But I wanted to test the game after bumping up the graphics to see how it looks and how it would feel like playing it smoothly.t

Haha no worries. Glad I could somewhat contribute tongue.gif. The game definitely benefits from an SSD as load times are cut significantly.

The game runs great at 1440p on the 1080 at absolute max, so I'm sure the 1070 will run it quite well at that res with a few minor tweaks to Godrays and AA.

Got the Zotac 1070 AMP yesterday, really impressed so far. Card is dead silent, fans don't even run until 60C. Coming from a 780 Ti, it's nice not to hear coil whine anymore. biggrin.gif

Gotta love those RGB LEDs, glad I didn't get the Founders Edition:

Fire Strike score...highest temperature was 73C, games are a few degrees lower. 4770k running at stock speeds:

Did some testing on my Phoenix and it looks like as soon as the core temperature hits 60c the fans spin up to 700 RPM, and when the temperature drops back down to below 60 the fans stop. This isn't a problem in intensive games where the temps sit at 65-68 most of the time, but in light games the fans are constantly turning off and on as the temperature hovers around 59 to 60. I imagine this can't be good for the fans to spin up and down for hours at a time and I'll have to work out a fan profile to fix this at some point.
Because normal idle temps without fans for 1070 should be around or below 50 celsius instead of yours 60.
Might be your card isn't downclocking or something.

I didn't say anything about idle temps. My card idles at 35c which is perfectly normal given a 13c ambient.
