[Official] NVIDIA GTX 1070 Owner's Club - Page 837

Been reading alot here about tweaking the 1070, I really like tweaking my hardware to get max out of it. Bought a Palit 1070 SJS back in november 2016, been really happy with this card. At first max stable was 2088 mhz and +405 on the memory (micron) 1.081v. Max stable is still 2088@1.081v, but i've got the vram stable at +450 instead (no artifacts in witcher 3 or crashes). I'm using the curve to overclock, +55 mhz and then i tweak the voltage points so that it runs at 2088 1.081v (doesn't throttle if the card is kept below 55c) and the .950v point at 2012 mhz. A few 3dmark benches with current stable settings: Ultra: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/12233867 Extreme: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/12233718 Normal: http://www.3dmark.com/fs/12233773 Time spy: http://www.3dmark.com/spy/1509028
And currently i'm testing what max clock i can get a the .950v point Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
After 20 minutes of witcher 3, Seems to bounce between 2050 and 2038 mhz. I will continue testing.

Yeah I don't think it would actually fit correctly in my current case tongue.gif. Show us some pics when you get a chance thumb.gif.

Thanks for the late reply! But I have already set on getting the GTX 1070.

Thank you!!!

Ok. It is an old but decent camera as my phone camera is busted...lol. Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I am looking to get a backplate that has the batman symbol on it (maybe in UV) if I can find one. I will also be installing a Heatkiller waterblock with a Swiftech H140x to cool it..

Make sure that your card is running the 86.04.50.00 series of vbios. It resolves a bug that caused Micron memory to crash you PC if you overclock it too far.

I think the Palit cards had 86.04.3b.00 bioses before the bugfix bios upgrade was released in November last year. You should be able to get the upgrade from the Palit website

If you are overclocking, use a custom fan curve. As temperatures rise, clocks start to progressively drop so the cooler you can keep your card, the faster it will maintain clock speed

Yeah i know about the micron bug before, i'm running the latest bios. +430 - 450 seems to be the max before artifacts appear. I always use a custom fan curve with air cooled cards, even at 65% the noise doesn't bother me much. But it's hard to keep this card under 55c and thats when it increases the voltage or adjusts the clock.

I set my custom fan curve 50C = 100% fan speed. Temperature Hysteresis = 11C, that's mean fans will cooldown to normal speed when it hits 39C. Some light gaming as long as the temperature never hit 50C, the fan will never goes to 100%. So it still depends on games & graphic settings. The custom fan curve will only applied to heavy gaming scenario. I also mostly capped my Framerates with Adaptive vsync at 60hz@60FPS 2560x1440P. I also didn't find my 100% fan speed is very loud, so basically I'm fine with it. Btw for benchmarks purpose I always set them manually into 100% so the fans will never dropped.

Pretty same with mine in witcher3, after long session it stay about 2050 and 2038 mhz. This is because temperature throttling & the fan cooler capabilities really are.

Try 100% fan speed.

Witcher 3 max settings is very gpu demanding will put any GPU into 99-100% load most of time = heats. (I play at 2560x1440P)

More powerful cooling definitely will make clockspeed more stable.

You should try watercooling your card. I am getting an H140-X to pair with a Heatkiller IV waterblock for my GPU. Watercooling a GPU has a much greater impact on performance than watercooling the CPU.
