Probably the Palit one with 240w power. If fanspeeds are correct with that one. I'd just use a custom curve..

Did they sell the Gaming X / Z with Samsung at all?

yes, they have sold both models with both Samsung (86.04.1E.00.xx original default bios) and Micron (86.04.26.00.xx original default bios cards manufactured before Nov 2016)  memory installed.

The other thing you should try is to increase your VCCIO voltage from the default of 1.05v to  somewhere between 1.1 and 1.2v, That solved anlines and squares artiface problem i had that was triggered by accelerated 2d canvas as used by chrome, with high mem oc after the update for me blue lines artifacts on the later bios

I would try the Asus strix OC bios. It is a good one. The FPS performance of the card is not directly related to how much power it is pulling.

MSI Gaming z bios is good to. MSI have done some strange things to stabilice the frequency at OC. The card reports that it can support 291W with the 126% power limit but it will start throttling at about 106%. but to get to that you need a 4K graphics load.

The Palit/Gainward bioses could also be worth trying

I'll give those a shot, thanks!

The msi one held up the OC's well without downclocking, but the fan profiles on both bios are terrible. only runs mine at 20-40% and the card hits 75C. plus i really dont want to have another program up and running all the time with my PC just for a fan curve.

owell sticking to stock bios.

i really want a 1080 or 1080ti now that ive upgraded to 1440p, but i just cant be justified to buy one of these cards without being able to mod the bios.

Hmm. Might be worth trying to trade it for a Samsung model (either X or Z, I don't really care for the RGB on the Z and the PCB is the same anyway).

I'm already running VCCIO on 1.15 and VCCSA on 1.05 because my 3770K has a terrible memory controller and needs this to even run 4 sticks on 2133 cl9.

Is anyone here also thinking that 3DMark has become extremely bad for everything? The new Heaven benchmark can get my 1070 through with 2126mhz and +545 memory clock, and score 20088 with my 4770k.

Meanwhile, 3Dmark struggles +115 on Coreclock.. Can't make that through Firestrike..

I wouldn't say "bad". Just more demanding.

What I have noticed about Nvidia cards is that when the workload is more intense, it tends to be much more finicky about clock speeds and performance. Mainly this can be seen with increasing resolution; If you run The same settings on BF1 for instance and try it between 1080P and 4K, you will notice that the card bounces off the power limiter a lot more @ 4k. I assume this is because the card's resources are more heavily saturated than @ 1080p.

We're probably seeing the same phenomenon on Firestrike.

Hi, I'm about to receive my new MSI 1070 Gaming X.
I would want to know what I should look for when getting my hand on this, as I read several issues like coil whining or VBios issues.
Also what should I expect coming from an OC'd 970? I think 50% more fps? and for temp (my 970 reach 75°C on certain game)?
