[Official] NVIDIA GTX 1070 Owner's Club - Page 851

hello guys.
i got this Gainward Gtx 1070 and i noticed that the fins on the cooler are parallel to the main board unlike phoenix version where fins are perpendicular. I am guessing this allows air better exiting the case oppose when fins are other scenario. although phoenix is beefier and thus better.
check these photos as comparison.

so i got an idea to buy exhaust coller for laptop to pull air out, as the hot air is not blown out like with reference blower cooler from nvidia.
i ordered this from ebay as it seem mounting mechanism can attach in the rear of the card. did not yet receive it, will post results when it arives.

That is an awesome price but what is the difference between that one and the non black edition, other then the current sale price that is?

I have checked and they look the same.

I currently have a non black version of the same card and if I were to go SLI that is a very tempting price.

Only difference I see on EVGA's site is the lack of a backplate on the Black Edition, base clock/boost clock are the same.

I would think that the fins on the black card would exhaust the air out both ends of the card.

How many fans do you have forcing air into the case? If the inward fans are filtered and air volume is more than fans that extract the air, then high pressure inside the case will help keep dust buildup inside your case down. i am not sure that the mini fan will help much

From 1070 to 1080 is a complete wase of money.Imagine you would do this every time. From 1070 to 1080 then next gen launches -upgrade to 1080ti then next gen Ti cards come and you upgrade to the non ti.Just dont do it ... its the same exact thing with every pc part

If you can sell 1070 with good amount of money, it's fine to upgrade to 1080.

what thing to be considered is, what is your current cpu/ram? make sure they're not bottlenecking your GPU.

in my case i5 3570k will be bottlenecking 1080Ti a lot. So upgrade into 1080ti is kind of waste performances/money unless I upgrade my cpu too.

However some people do that for hobby, it's GPU addiction. It's not wrong though, if you compare into another bigger hobbyist, GPU addiction still cheaper.
