IDK why but I get a lot more artifacts on this scene than any other in the heaven benchmark

I was only able to get to 190MHz with no artifacts.

As for memory.. I'm not sure how to figure out how high to go.

One review said this, "Our GTX 1080's GDDR5X memory also took a final offset +400MHz to achieve a 5400MHz final stable memory clock. We noticed that there is a memory hole with instability around +500MHz offset, and that we could then push it even higher to +600MHz, but we lost some performance compared with a +400MHz offset."

I'm not sure how they found it it had a memory hole? Or that they lost performance? I'm guessing FPS?

HARDOCP: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2016/06/13/geforce_gtx_1070_founders_edition_overclocking_review#.V2C3HfkrIuU they got to +230 with no issues somehow

Definitely interested to see how this 1070 is going to pump out the frames. Seems like quite a hefty performance jump from a GTX970 with little to no increase in power consumption...

Looks like this card will easily handle today's games upto 1440p with no problem at all. Not quite there yet for 4k but getting there, that's more of the 1080's business.

EVGA is the only OEM with a Step-up program. and if you ordered from Nvidia directly you are getting a Nvidia branded FE card, not a EVGA/MSI/ASUS branded card.

Not my photo, but see

The two Nvidia GTX 1080 are in different boxes vs the 2 EVGA GTX 1080 even though they are all FE.

A single GTX 1070 is not going to be enough if you have a high refresh rate 1440P monitor such as the Asus PG279Q.
If you have a PG279Q like i do you want to aim for 165 FPS, and and to do that you are either talking GTX 1070 SLI or GTX 1080 SLI.

I am looking into getting new video cards and i was thinking about two GTX 1070 cards to replace my old GTX 970 cards but i dont really know.
For games that dont work with SLI the FPS is going to be lower so if it comes to that GTX 1080 cards would be better.

But they also cost a ton more.
Long story short no a GTX 1070 is not enough for 1440P even at 60 FPS it struggles in some games.

I agree with what you say, but wouldn't be better in the long run to get one 1080, then sli later. Also as far as i can tell, using the 1070 is great, but it does stutter with some games @ 1440p.
BTW, anyone annoyed with the pesty white sticker on 1 of the 4 gpu screw, cause now I cannot get a waterblock

I am talking with a friend about him buying my two GTX 970 cards in august or september.
I paid about 9000 kr ($1365 US) for them new so i told my friend i wanted 2500 kr ($378 US) for both, is that ripping him off or does that seem like a fair price?

There will be no new video card(s) in july as i am upgrading my motherboard CPU and RAM.
But yes i am thinking about getting one GTX 1080 and another one later, i just need to wait for the new Gigabyte Extreme Gaming GTX 1080 card.

That pretty fair for two 970s, since they are going about $200 USD each. Also, the pricing of these new cards, even non-FE, has not been at that MSRP. They have been a bit cheaper than the FE or more expensive than the FE which is a bummer.

The few retailers that have GTX 1070 and 1080 cards listed here in Denmark have ridiculous prices going on

Despite the fact that we have 25% VAT in Denmark an aftermarket GTX 1070 goes for around 4000 kr ($600 US)
The GTX 1080 aftermarket cards are around 6000 kr ($900 US)

I refuse to pay those prices so i am going to wait at least a month even if i was not upgrading my motherboard CPU and RAM.

Yeah better off waiting until the hype dies down. I kinda of regret getting the card so early cause of the placement of the warranty sticker. But I wanted to upgrade when I have been pushing a gtx580 w/ 1.5gb for a while @ 1440p.

no and they're still sitting in my account with the status 'Not yet shipped'. not sure when they'll ship. to temper my impatience i'm anticipating sometime between next week and the end of the month. someone on reddit posted a screenshot of amazon support saying his card will ship on June 22nd. so maybe that's when this batch will go out. we'll see.
