Curious thing is that the gtx670 windforce x3 i replaced never went over 65*C in exactly the same circumstances.
Does the 1070 use so much more power ?

My ambient temps are a constant 25C, so I'm not too far off. However, I will say if you're pushing the card in something like Firestrike constantly, 80C may be a normal temp. I'd say for gaming that seems high. Any way to measure your ambient case temps?

Have you considered removing the heatsink to check things out?
Very much this, a lot of people misunderstand how it works. Throttling would be a clock speed lower than the rated boost speed, on an FE card that would be anything below 1683mhz.

I'd actually go as far to say that as long as you're not hitting below your stock clocks, you're not being throttled. I mean based on the variables required for boost (of any kind) it fits. However, for you to hit your base clocks on any of the 10-series cards, you've gotta have some crazy variables or a bad card.

My my. Where do you work? If you don't mind answering/me asking smile.gif. Always felt I could live a happy life building systems like that .

You're so close! Maybe bump your CPU and RAM as much as possible if your card is topped out. Turn the A/C down as low as possible, open up the case and shove a room fan into the opening... there's always something left to try!

Also, run the test plenty of times. My results will vary a few hundred points in back to back runs.

bigjdubb thanks for advice, will play with RAM timings a bit, and maybe set CPU to 4,6 but my last experience with it at 4,6 was @ 1.37v and i'm not a fan of such voltage....

Yeah it's definitely nice to be doing this sorta stuff everyday lol. And I am the watercooling manager at Xidax PCs! I handle all the building and QC with our water cooled systems.

People get pretty salty about the pricing we have on our systems, and sometimes I can't blame them. However our lifetime warranty could be worth quite a bit of money to a lot of people who already know the hassle and headache of getting something returned or refunded because it didn't work correctly or just died of old age.

But anyway, this site coupled with the opportunity for hands on experience with the newer hardware is very nice to have.

It's benchmarking, it only has to work for a couple of minutes. It just needs to boot and complete the test so that you can record the score and get a screenshot!

Man I wish my core freq and voltage looked as stable as yours. During firestrike runs freq is bouncing between 1967-2088 and voltage 950mv-1093mv. What does your voltage/freq curve look like?
