Thanks,

To me its worth it to upgrade to Skylake to take advantage of DDR4 and some other non gaming related hardware available with the Z170 chipset. But all the extra memory bandwidth probably wont come into play game wise for a little while.

Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge can benefit from high performance ram.

For many years, PC gamers were saying that "ram does not matter", but from my testing, high performance ram can increase frame rate in open world games.

Before buying a new cpu, motherboard, and/or ram, I would overclock your current cpu and try to reduce timings on your current ram.
Instead of a new cpu, did you consider getting new audio equipment? or new peripheral devices? new display? new desk/chair?
I see you have a GTX 480. Fermi uses a lot of power and emits a lot of heat.
I went from GTX 580 --> 750 Ti and my room became cooler and the electricity bill went down. The difference is very notice-able.

Thanks,

No need to worry about CPU bottleneck with your Core i7 2600K especially if you will play at 1440p
