Watercooling Ram compatibilites

Hello,

I was wondering if EK ram modules were universal or are most ram blocks universal? As in if I buy an Alphacool X4 Ram block will they be compatible with EK Monarch modules? The dimensions look correct but it could be off by a smidge so if anyone has had experience, would love your input

It´s better when you buy the whole package from just 1 company, because of different mounting holes and you may get in trouble if someday a RMA is needed. Some companies reacting kinda allergic when mixing their stuff with other companies products...you know smile.gif
If you´re lucky enuff and still using the old corsair ddr3 dominator ram series, you only need the ram block itself without any extra modules.

So I'm going to assume ddr4 platinum's don't work like the old ones?

And only asking because I picked a alpha cool block for a good price but saw there were some off brand modules for much cheaper that looked identical to alphacool ones, didn't want to pay $15 per module

Exactly, for most of ddr4 ram if not all you need to add those extra modules and dismount the ram heatspreaders by yourself like shown in many video guides @YT
In general: There is no need to watercool ram and you´ll may loose the guarantee, so think twice if you really wanna do it

+1 for pointless liquid coolers of RAM. We are past days when RAM was running at 2.5V or 3.3V. Back then, yes it was good idea if you had by any chance waterblock at all.

Currently with proper airflow in my case DDR4 2666 sticks from Crucial barely reach 29-30C with 12GB of RAM used out of 32 gigs.

Yes I am aware that water cooling ram is purely for aesthetic reasons but that's why I'm doing it since I have a block and just need modules biggrin.gif Haha, I'll be building hardline with a Maximus VIII formula with a 360 rad and holding off on the GPU for now because I plan on grabbing a AIB 1080/1070
