Without QRB you're just getting base points which is a very small fraction of what you should be getting.

Thanks!! I did not know that. I've started folding with my passkey and I got a big WU. Will the QRB decrease once more people start folding with the 1080s or will the 1080s always be this much faster than my 980s?

Well I was getting 800k+ on one card and 700k+ estimated PPD when I decided to open up GPU Tweak II and see what was cooking. I stupidly hit "Always 3D Clock" which looked like it caused my screen to flicker and then both WU to fail with "BAD_WORK_UNIT". I'm such an idiot.

Seems like my 1080s are folding nicely!

Thanks for the help guys! I know I went off topic here.

Good to hear.

QRB is based off how fast the WU is completed. The faster the WU completes the more points you'll be awarded in addition to the base points. The 1080 should always be faster than a 980.
QRB's should not change as more people use the 1080's thumb.gif However, you will notice that some WU's are better than other, so do not be alarmed if you see very low or very high PPD.

Makes sense. By that logic I should sell my 980s and get 2 more 1080s just to fold on!

Good lord....you must have some money to burn. tongue.gif

Still if they are outputting that PPD that should be a very nice jump from a 980. Hope that big Pascal can bring a nice boost as well. I just worry what the price is going to be on them.

I know I am skipping the 1080s then. My 980Tis can still push out around 650-750K PPD depending on WUs under W7. So that would not give me a big boost considering the price of those cards.

Out of curiosity, can you test one on PrimeGrid? Interested on how fast one can do PPS Sieve workunits on that project.
My Tis average 5min turnaround on those.

Not necessarily money to burn, I just have 4 GTX 980s that I purchased over the past year and I could probably sell all four and get close to two 1080s. Maybe I will sell them and save the money for a big pascal. IDK

I'd be happy to give it a shot. Never used BOINC before, I've downloaded the manager, I just don't see where to set GPU. It seems to only be using CPU. I also don't see a PPS Sieve WU. Do I need to download a specific GPU client?

For Prime Grid and uncheck everything, only check Use nividia GPU box and check cuda box for Proth Prime Search Sieve (PPS sieve) - leave all other boxes unchecked - SAVE. Goto Boinc manager and hit update, also abort all CPU projects while you at it. Remember to join Team Overclock.net.

To set up PrimeGrid to get those tasks go to the Project tab, select PrimeGrid and then click on Preferences on the left under Project Web pages. Login if you have to. At the bottom is a link 'Edit PrimeGrid Preferences' which enable all those options on the screen. Select Use NVIDIA GPU and the Proth Prime Search at the bottom of this image.
