Whats the deal with Zowie mice? - Page 15

I'm not sure why these mice seem to work well for some people but not others, my ec1-a is fine for me. I noticed people complaining about pixel skip before, and wondered if they hadn't shipped a defective batch at the time. I think most of the reason this mouse does so well for me is the grip, where a zowie fk1 was okay but not great. I know there was a rumour of smoothing in these mice, any confirmation of this yet?

Colours look good on that mouse, although I'd prefer darker lower part, gray or black.

Built a white/black/red Sensei myself, done a lot of small internal improvements. When you mod something thoroughly there's no reason not to touch the colours to fit your taste.

The AM shape is my favorite out of the entire Zowie series, but the /\ shape kind of kills it for me, it's so difficult for me to lift

A couple of more thoughts about this.. zowie have been pretty competitive when it comes to performance and updated their mice so that there are different grips. Probably explains the popularity, for FPS raw performance is second to grip so I can see why a lot of people like them. It's a little worrying that people are feeling like the mouse has smoothing though, and early reports of pixel skipping is maybe a sign that quality isn't as good as the hype. Will just have to wait and see what BenQ does with the zowie line up.

looks good without a cord! (sorry CeeSa biggrin.gif)
i especially like the white body with black top shell (white wheel). would probably look even better with a black wheel!
i wonder if you could somehow dye these wheels in a way that the paint actually sinks into the material?

2. NaVi majority used ZOWIE before they were sponsored (seized for example probably for more than two years)
3. fnatic are sponsored by BenQ monitors and have their own fnaticGEAR - do you really think JW or KriMZ use ZOWIE because of contracts? (hint: all other fnatic teams use fnaticgear mice)
4. NiP - all 5 use ZOWIE even if there is a NiP mouse and no association to BenQ/ZOWIE
5. G2 - no association with BenQ/ZOWIE, 3/5 use ZOWIE
6. Astralis - no association with BenQ/ZOWIE, 2/5 use ZOWIE
7. Virtus.pro - no association with BenQ/ZOWIE, they used ZOWIE for a long time and only moved when FORCED to go to SteelSeries
8. EnVyUs - apex, happy have used ZOWIE for 2+ years only being sponsored by ZOWIE after last month
9. Tempo Storm - no association with ZOWIE/BenQ, 4/5 use ZOWIE
10. Liquid - association with RAZER, still 2/5 use ZOWIE

I could continue the list with dignitas, optic, godsent, faze, sk ZOWIE usage - again, none of them sponsored, but I think you got the point.

ZOWIE has been the favorite of pro players that can choose for a couple years already, it has nothing to do with BenQ money. You can agree or disagree about the product quality but do not spread fake claims.

The contract clause I posted is from LG.

Fnatic, from what I remember, has a different contract allowing individual commitments because they no longer get SS money.

The French players were sponsored by Zowie at various times and Razer at others.

Astralis has freedom to get sponsors for themselves.

Last I heard, Hiko has freedom of choice, whereas Simple didn't. I think the rest have to use Razer.

Na'Vi has Zowie as a sponsor.

Basically, it appears most players with a BenQ agreement can get money for using Zowie products. C9 doesn't use Zowie because Logitech has an agreement for the peripherals.

Again, just because they might prefer Zowie products over others doesn't mean they are using it purely because they want to (without compensation).

I would love to use things I like and get paid too.

BenQ bought "Zowie Gear." Then they started using the "Zowie" name for marketing instead of "BenQ." Hence the jerseys, monitors, etc with "Zowie" or "Zowie by BenQ." I doubt anyone who was apart of "Zowie Gear" is making the decisions or happen to be involved.

I have no faith in BenQ because it took 5 firmwares to fix some issues with the XL2430T. The monitor still takes ~5 seconds to turn on or switch resolutions, which is highly annoying considering it's a modern monitor and other monitors using the same panel are said to be faster. I am still on firmware v4 because I can't update the firmware unless I send the monitor in (making it the 3rd time I have do so). It took about a year for firmware v5.

So now BenQ is branding their monitors (at least in esports) as Zowie, but making a distinction that it isn't peripherals?

The last time I saw Liquid play it looked like Hiko and Adren didn't have to use Razer. Hiko said before that he was able to choose his mice, but I am not sure how that is today. Adren was using a Zowie EC because he wasn't on contract as he was basically already fired after the event. I assume Simple will be able to use his own mouse, whereas JDM will have to use a Razer (non CLG edition).

they most likely have to make the distinction because teams that formerly had benq as sponsor most likely already have a periphiral sponsor (razer, steelseries or fnatic gear) which benq is now in competition with

Apparently the QC on Zowie BenQ mice arent great... bought a few days ago, had different click pressures on M1 and M2. RMAed it yesterday, new one had peeling coating at the back of the mouse.

Zowie's QC's been abysmal since I can think of.

The number of flaws that are directly related to the molds in use would make you think that at a given point they would swallow a pill and replace those ahead of one of their assortment refreshes.

Strive for perfection...my ass!
