[PcPer/Guru3D] Intel Core i7-6950X 10-core Broadwell-E Review - Page 2

Savage CPU, but that price, didn't expect that... :/

I was reading guru3d review.
thwy claim they got a bad sample for overclock.
but so far it seems that the broadwell architecture might indeed be a bad clocker.
with this in mind. What is the ipc improvement on the 6900k vs the 5960x?
i am talking 8 core vs 8'core models.
the 10 core with its stupid price is another thing...
and would it justify an upgrade from 5960x to 6900k?

cheers!

This is the processor you dream up in the night. "What if I had a 14nm CPU with 10/20 cores/threads?"

But then you wake up and realise that its way too silly and it wouldn't have a use in your PC anyway.

Giant chips usually clock lower and dont like overclocking, look at xeon overclock abilities. So not sure what they were expecting from 10 cores/possible points of faillure.

Or did they try to OC them indiviually and lost count?

I guess now is the time to ask...
For the sam price should someone buy a used 5960x or a new 6850k?

I cant even tell which is the real pricing. Different review gave different pricing?

Citing xeon overclock abilities is kinda strange considering they overclock just fine but are hardlocked on all but few models.
