They mentioned it in a general "wall of text" email that the documents were updated with newer pricing. I only clued into it since I happened to download an updated presentation PDF.

You can see quite a few publications didn't see it and are quoting the lower price. Even Anandtech's charts reflect the original one.

As mediocre as I thought it would be.

More so, in some scenarios.

Well, that helps.

Though i meant the original press briefing. I have problems imagining press going: "Oh, $500 more for the flagship, no biggie".

I think say max $1250 would have been acceptable for those interested in a 10 core but +$750 = +75% price for 2 extra cores? Intel is totally mad. Who ever needs that kind of power will build a single 14 core Xeon or dual 20 core Xeon for very similar price. Overclocking as expected is absolute trash on Broadwell even these newer E ones, just not worth it to get them over Xeon for overclocking, not the 6950x at all.

I hope AMD wipes Intel next year biggrin.gif Otherwise Intel will keep releasing and milking with tiny performance increments and hike the prices.

Those were my thoughts exactly. So glad I bit on HW-E last fall and didn't wait for this garbage. It is such a sad time to be a PC enthusiast with monopoly completely taking over the high end CPU and GPU spaces.

There was a general sigh of ressentiment.

I don't see the point of such a high price point. Who would be dumb enough to buy a cpu that will not overclock that good and is freaking expensive.
If you really need lot of core, get a xeon with even more of it!
