1999mhz after 20 min gaming sessions for max OC. I hoped the custom designs would be able to keep the "announced" 2114mhz atleast frown.gif

These companies have become such a nuisance for OCN. How can they expect us to accept products that do not overclock?? I say lets learn from the French and hit the streets! tongue.gif

Is the founder edition unlocked then? Did nvidia enable oc only for the reference/founders cards?

If no, then strix or the evga acx3 look ok. If yes, what stops users buying the founder edition and applying a custom cooler on top?
Strix cards have never been good overclockers and that's okay because that's not what they're about. But when a Strix is barely quieter than reference you know you've got a problem, hopefully this is only happening with these cards and isn't representative.

*hopefully*

All cards are limited to 1.25V. 😞

Still not completely proven IMO. Only a couple people saying so and they are not using custom cards. Maybe the founders edition voltage control IC is limited to 1.25v but there are ways around that. Even EVGA posted a nice guide on how to mod the card to go up to 1.6v. Seems weird that they would do this mod and tell others how to do it yet somehow not even know the mod was a complete failure and doesn't work.

without power limit, without thermal limits (ln2) the maximum you can get is 2,3ghz-2,4ghz (on LN2) just becaus of the Voltage Limit 2,1-2,2ghz is the maximum on Air/Water.

Yep, same crap design like last time.

I have a 980 STRIX. I declared the day I tried folding 24/7 on it that I would never touch one again. Thing makes ungodly racket with its fans and its cooling is pure crap. Plus, the stupid lock voltage that not even BIOS modding can get past.

My darn EVGA 960 clocks better than it and stay cooler with its air cooler (It now got an AIO and at 1551MHz).

But yeah, if this the case with the majority of the 1080s. I think I will definitely be skipping Pascal. It no fun if I can't push a card. Makes me wonder to if these cards would throttle bad while folding.

Power limit was unlocked, didn't change a thing.
Still cannot go past 1.25V on Ln2.

It wasn't an official guide from Evga, but from their in-house Overclockers.

And if you spent your time reading the comments, you'll realize that they are struggling to get past 1.25V too.

And this is with a completely hacked up PCB, that doesn't have any limit of the anemic reference PCB.

It is proven. They didn't tell other to do it.
Every gen, select XOCers do this mod on reference cards because they don't want to wait 3 months for the proper OC cards. The guide is from one such Overclocker, to help others.

And there's no way they could have known that it wouldn't work, without actually doing the mod.
