2004 PC ; Can it start a fire ?

Hello !

I have this 2004 computer : mainboard MSI 865PE neo2v , processor pentium 4 3,2 mhz northwood , kingston memory DDR1, Maxtor HDD 200gb PATA133 and I think a noname psu SIRTEC.

If I change the psu with a good one , can I use the pc withought risk of fire ?

I will be using 24/7 non stop at a selling point , is there any risk of fire from the other components ?I wown't overclock anything .

Thank you ,

The PSU is really the only risk of a fire. But, even in 2004, power supplies had failure protection built in. I've never heard of a PSU fire other than someone running way too much off a low power, cheap PSU. Stay within the specs and you should be fine, or replace it with a new $40 on sale special.

A question , I want to buy this psu http://www.corsair.com/en-us/cx-series-cx450m-450-watt-80-plus-bronze-certified-modular-atx-psu-na . It has ATX : ''Supports ATX12V 2.4/2.3/2.2/2.01 and EPS12V 2.92 standards''

Would it be ok if my mainboard is ATX 1 and CPU pins are JPW1 ?

Thank you .

It should since the Corsair has a 20+4 pins cable and 4 pins EPS cable. To be sure check the pinout of the Corsair PSU, but i'm pretty sure it fits.

I'm sure it fits , problem is if there is any problem if the specs differ ATX 1 to other Atx. Speaking of fire or something .
