How do I know if I applied too much thermal paste?

Thread Starter
I was applying my first cpu+mofset block from EKWB on my ASUS Maximus Impact VIII MB. I already added on the thermal pads to the mofsets, and I watched a video by Jayztwocents for how to put on the thermal paste. In his video he said he prefers the X-method because it really covers the CPU the best. So I did the X-method, but I feel like I may have put a little too much thermal paste on. Is there a way of telling without taking off the block that I put too much on? and if I must take off the block, can I reuse the thermal pads for my mofsets or do I need new ones? (I dont have any so I would have to order them). Thanks!
