New $2500 AUD build - Page 5

I have a question about that gigabyte ultra board posted a few pages back. I just learned about u.2 ports being designed for desktops where only Intel has u.2 ssd's out currently and how they don't get as hot as m.2 ssd's. Are there any x99 boards out there that can run two GPU's at x8, m.2 at x4, and a u.2 at x4 on a 28 lane CPU? It seems like it should since it only adds up to 24 lanes.

If I'm reading the spec sheet on the gigabyte ultra board right though it can't even run two GPU's at x8 on a 28 lane CPU.

I believe the new Gigabyte X99 Designare EX board has an PLX chip on it that adds more PCI-E lanes even if you only have a 28 lane CPU.

They talk about it in one of the videos from Computex 2016 and i think it might have been Logan from raze the world but i could be wrong.

Edit: going by their claim that you can do x16 x16 x16 with a 28 lane CPU the onboard PLX chip can do at least 20 lanes extra.

Just wanted to pop in and say thanks for that. It seems like a great board to later upgrade into. Hopefully u.2 becomes standard for desktop nvme ssd's.
