Case Labs S8 build - Page 3

post #21 of 44

Also some update on the build:

• Have done all the cable-management;
• Installed RGB lightning illumination inside the case (AC farbwerk);
• Connected and checked all the MPS deviced;
• Successfully leak tested both loops;

Also made a successful test boot late at night yesterday with only 24 pin/4+4CPU/pumps connected to PSU. Today I will clean install Windows 10, configure the water-cooling (fans/pumps/etc.) through aquasuite, stress test the system, and hopefully finish the build!thumbsupsmiley.png

Will continue today!

Looking good!thumb.gif

Good that you have the psu sorted out now.
Excellent job on the cables, and tubing.
The dual coolant colors add a unique feature to the build.

Out of curiosity, which AC temp. sensor did you have, the one with two internal threads:

http://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_info.php?products_id=2291&language=en

Or the one with one internal/one external thread:

http://shop.aquacomputer.de/product_info.php?products_id=2293

AC should give you a proper replacement for the defective one, although you may not trust it now!

I'll be fitting the first one shown, with dual internal threads on mine, hopefully it won't have that issue!

@DerComissar

Thank you very much! Regardless of some difficulties, I am hoping to finish it today rolleyes.gif

I used male/female (in/ext) one. And the potential leak point was on the male part (external thread) of the fitting. As for the replacement, I think it is not some sort of defect, just imperfection of fitting design! As soon as you will use dual internal threads one, you will avoid this kind of risk thumb.gif

Thank-you for the information, good to know it was the male thread that had the issue.
That may be helpful to others using that sensor as well, perhaps AC needs to look into the design and fix it!

I will leave you to finish your build, you certainly don't wast any time!cheers.gif

Yesterday the build was finally finished!

All the components are working fine, still looking for balance of noise and temps (flow speed, fans speed, etc.), but it is looking good so far!

A little disappointment is that on the high rpm's the D5 pumps, screwed to the metal surface of the case, are a little bit noisy even with the rubbers seals.

Really love how intelligent and convenient this case is designed. On the final stage of my build , I had an issue with one of the ssd power cables, first thought was that I will need to drain the loop and take out the MB to access the stealth mount under the MB, but it turn out that you can easily take out the SSD mount separately from the MB tray without any issues.

Sorry for the photo quality, I have a really dull/pale late at my apartment! Hope Ill make a few better photos during day time today!

Overall I got plenty of fun building in this case!

Wow ! That was quick !! Very good job, clean and beautiful ! thumb.gif

I glued some foam layers to my D5's mounting brackets, it really helps to absorb any noise or vibration from the pumps, even at full speed.

Great job on the build, it looks fantastic.thumb.gif
Good view of the reservoirs through the front window, another neat option of the S8 that I've always liked.
The black and red color scheme works well throughout, cables, coolant, the fan rings, all tie in together nicely.
A lot of work doing those cables, I bet!

Really worth it though, now you can enjoy playing with the system, and have some fun with those 980 Ti's!

I'll second that Rep+cheers.gif

@TUFinside,@DerComissar,@Barefooter Thank you very much!
I am enjoying the build myself, even despite of the mainstream color scheme I went with.

Was looking for stable overclocks and stopped with this:
• CPU – 4900 Mhz, 1.48 v - 55 C (degrees under stress)
• GPU – 1500 Mhz, 8000 Mhz, 1.21v - 35 C (degrees under stress) (on both cards)
Benchmark result (FIRE STRIKE ULTRA 1.1) - 8 918 (link)
