1280 CUDA for $200 anyone?

Since AMD mentioned GTX 970/980 in their R9 480 slide, and InnoVision puts GTX 1060 in the same performance tier, its pretty obvious that these will fight for the same customers

Does it cost the same? No.

That's a neat anecdote, it's not like 290s and 290xes were exorbitantly expensive forever. Right before they were replaced, you could get them for $260 and $330 respectively, which is the same price or a little bit more for what Polaris 10 will sell for.

That's only a valid argument when you can get two gpus to perform as well as a single gpu. A single, faster gpu offers far better experience than multiple, cheaper gpus.

Even if they do manage to get 1060 with 1280@1800Mhz it will be worse than 980 and what the curent leak suggests for Polaris with the same price.

However it will still sell like hot cakes since it's Nvidia and it's their "new card" smile.gif

-RX 460 (full P11) 150$

Why not RX 460 and then RX 460X (where RX stands for R(10) )
and RX 480 and then RX 480X

Then we get:

-1050 (gp108) 130$
-RX 460 (cut P11) 130$
-RX 460 (full P11) 180$
-GTX 1060 (gp106) 250$
-RX 480 (cut p10) 250$
-GTX 1070 (cut GP104) 330$
-RX 480X (full P10) 320$
-GTX 1080 (full GP104) 500$
-R 490 (cut V10) 400$
-1080 Ti (cut GP102) 700$
-RX 490 (full v10) 600$
-Titan III(GP102) 1000$

760 launched at 250, 960 launched at 240$, Nvidia usually prices their cards at slightly above AMD's offerings regardless of whether or not AMD has better performance. they see value in G-sync, Cuda, PhysX, regardless of whether others do

Exactly. This market is supremely saturated and it's why OEMS will be the bigger purchasers this time around.

Although 250 dollars seems like a good deal and at the pricing this card needs to sell at, the gtx 1070 pricing definitely blindsided AMD. 250 dollars is not the the type of pricing you want to go for on finfet. Particularly when you consider this chip is bigger than pitcairns(which launched at 350) and comes with a whole lot more memory. Going from the information AMD released in January, I think AMD wanted to charge 300-330 dollars for this card. But the gtx 1070 pricing, for atleast the none founders edition, definitely made AMD margins thinner.

At this price, AMD margins are going to be terrible, particularly if this is the uncut chip. It's too the point where it will be difficult for AMD to give away a free game with the purchase of the card which is going to affect marketing.

Polaris 11 is going to have to be 100-130 dollar video card and with finfet, this is the type of pricing, that does make sense anymore for videocards to be in this range.

OEM's should like this card. But this lineup will need incredible volume to be profitable.
