1.8X density, if we go by Pascal and iPhone figures. You can pack 2816 cores in P10's die. Just like you can pack almost all 980Ti cores into GP104 die. Does not mean it will happen.

Pascal is using slightly bigger FF no?

Anyway 2560 is more than enough to be pack inside a 232mm sq.

If 2560 P10 can match a 980 Ti, I wonder what a Dual-Vega GPU (successor to Pro Duo) can do with 4096 cores each and AiO cooling, especially OCed.

I think it might be the world's first triple-4K capable card, if it comes with 16GB frame buffer per GPU from HBM2. biggrin.gif

Oh then a x1.8 shrink would make more than enough room for 40CU considering only 256 bit bus .... nice smile.gif

It might not exist but still it's nice to know it's feasible.

Pascal is 1.7x denser than Maxwell and difference is taken as Apple's die size difference. Admittedly that's not that good of estimation.

Also, P10 XT (if it is 40 CU) matching 980 Ti is a very big if.

Only if 2304 RX 480 can run 10% faster than 980, den the 2560 cores version can match 980 Ti, albeit a slightly higher clock like 1.3GHz?

either way, I cannot imagine a Dual Vega monster.

Lots of assumptions there but I certainly wouldn't discount it as out of the realm of possibility either. There was the $300 980Ti rumor...

no

a 2560 core @ 1330mhz = RX 480 + 10% performance

a 2560 P10 version with 8GB GDDR5 and 1266 Mhz should have 10% performance compared to the RX 480 8GB GDDR5 at 1266 Mhz version and even more than the RX 480 4GB GDDR5 Version

If they pull off a 2560 P10 with 8GB GDDR5X and jump to 1330 Mhz then we could expect around +20% even.

a P10 2304sp@1266mhz vs 2560sp @1266mhz ( + 11% shader) = + 5-6% performance

a P10 2304sp@1266mhz vs 2560sp@1330mhz ( + 11% shader + 5% core clock) = 8-10% performance

GDDR5X is useless on this gpu

imho!

//EDIT: To clarify this, the scaling from 1->2 GPUs in the dual RX 480 test we assembled is 1.83x. The OP was looking only at the lowest draw call rates when asking about the 51%. The single batch GPU utilization is 51% (CPU-bound), medium is 71.9% utilization (less CPU-bound) and heavy batch utilization is 92.3% (not CPU-bound). All together for the entire test, there is 1.83X the performance of a single GPU in what users saw on YouTube. The mGPU subsystem of AOTS is very robust

some other tidbits in there as well

imho!

If there is such low difference in performance then wouldn't the leaks we have seen for a 32CU tests be the ones that end up with 4GB GDDR5 instead of making 2 different 36CU units with 4 and 8 GB GDDR5

Also looking for a leak of a 40CU P10 frown.gif
