They already have Pascal rocking HBM2...

Why not just slap a few on some consumer cards...

Say what you want, only "big" pascal is the high-end chip. Those are now the Ti's and Titans.

High-end performance from the 1080, yes.

1080 a High-end chip, no.

So sorry, Nvidia absolutely have a lot to offer today. In the gamer market that accounts for most of the sales

It has nothing to offer as they've only had two paper launches.

The "can't" scenario is what troubles some people about AMD, as a whole.

They're telling people Polaris is a "won't" chip - "we don't WANT to compete on the high end with nVidia."

In reality, maybe they just can't.

Of course they can't. Their high-end chip is Vega which has HBM2. HBM2 volume production only starts in Q3.

Considering they released a Fury X with 4096 stream processors, and Polaris 10 will have reportedly 2560 or so, it's more likely to be a not wanting to compete than a not being able to compete.

If it indeed only competes with the GTX 970 and 980... It better be ~200 dollars or less.

Yeah, the GTX 1070 and 1080 are just paper launches. It's not like you can buy them anytime soon.

In the meantime, AMD Polaris can be had for $699 today and offers 25% more performance than Titan X.

Oh wait, I got it flipped.

As of right now there is no availability. That is fact, moreover I wonder about the availability of GDDR5X.

I don't mean to get down on these rumors, but here we are again.

I'm sitting here with a 970 and all my "upgrade" paths are sideways with AMD unless I want to get a new nVidia card for the ~$350 or so I spent on my current card.

AMD needs to offer nVidia users more than sideways "upgrades." That's how you get market share back.

If the previously released 3DMark leaks are correct, we're getting around R9 Fury Nano performance with the RX 480. Seeing the price of the 1070, AMD can't afford to sell it higher than $280, probably.

Not defending Pascal as a great product, but it is the fastest card people can buy at the moment and many already have 1080's in hand. That's not a paper launch.

If AMD can give some indication that Vega 10 will launch in October, I will hold off on purchasing anything. But I need a little more power now and AMD being so tight lipped isn't helping matters for many.
