[VideoCardz] AMD Radeon RX 480 to cost 199 USD - Page 28

TLDR:

VR for "cheap" (headsets still $600+) -> DX12 marketing -> most cringeworthy cherrypick of a confusing benchmark I think I've ever seen on stage (crossfire 480s barely edging out a single 1080 in, surprise surprise, Ashes of the Singularity) -> still looks poor in comparison to the 1080 -> 150W TDP, same as 1070 with clearly lesser performance -> more details in the coming weeks

That reveal sucked hard and as an enthusiast, I have as much of an inverse-boner as possible right now.To be fair, GP104 and Broadwell-E were pretty not-exciting too and 2016 as a whole looks pretty bland for the high-end market. A 480 performing at ~980/390X level for $200-$220 max would be nice for budget gamers if they can manage it, but it's not even architecturally impressive if it really sucks down roughly the same amount of power as a 1070 to do it.

I want 480 vs 1070 benchmarks. If it approaches the 1070 even slightly, AMD have a winner. Well assuming the temps and all that are good.

lol this had good intentions with AMD wanting their partners to talk about AMD hardware and software but they ended up just marketing themselves. What a shocker lachen.gif
