[VideoCardz] AMD Radeon RX 480 to cost 199 USD - Page 47

I think this is fantastic news personally. I will just assume 980 performance for $200 (based on WSJ article) and at that price/performance this card will absolutely clean up. Best news is that we find out everything no later than June 29th!

This was the most interesting bit about that LTT video for me:

Single slot PCB with 3x DP 1.4 and 1x HDMI 2.0 thumb.gif

I might end up purchasing two of these and trying out Xfire.

Well, not quite 980 performance. More like 390

They announced nothing. Just cleared up some rumors and played an awful video to introduce Zen rolleyes.gif

I'll watch it later, thanks, but I was just talking about them announcing the basic specs and the name of the card. But since we dont' know if RX 480 = R9 480X, we might as well have an RX 480X presented later, that's what I was hypothesizing.

Agreed. I think there will be a bigger Polaris chip in the near future based on the $100-$300 comments.

Also about the scaling slide of Polaris CF. It is showing 50% usage for a crossfire setup. I know it is misleading but that doesn't mean that 100% of a single polaris gpu is matching a 1080?

I know this is not true just the marketing slide is stupid.

Was DP1.4 and HDMI 2.0b confirmed on it?

My biggest question is whether the 480 is a significant performance boost from the previous generation. If it comes close to the 390X in terms of performance, I think AMD may have just broken the industry.

Yes matching a 1080 while they used lower settings for the dual 480s. So really they shouldn't even have shown it because its worth nothing. I am sure that will get picked apart to death in reviews.
