[VideoCardz] AMD Radeon RX 480 to cost 199 USD - Page 48

I'm really considering going SFF for my next build. Judging by the size and single slot nature of this card, I may just pick two up. If one gives me 15-20% improvement over my 290X at a lower power draw and $200, then that would be more than worth it for me.

It's the same terrain as the Polaris setup. Ashes benchmark uses procedural generation for the terrain based on the time. To be more specific:

This is from the presentation. Left is polaris

And this is from the video at crazy settings

AMD is giving you 970/980 performance for $200, nvidia is giving you 980Ti performance for $380. Way I see it amd is a step behind until October. But this means GP106 has competition, maybe it won't be as overpriced as GTX 960 was.

idk about HDMI level(its probably 2.0 but who knows). AMD on the 480's spec page says DP 1.3/1.4 HDR. Part of me wants to say it specifically says HDR to say that it only supports the HDR function of 1.4, but a guess is a guess till actual reviews and specs happen

There are no certified specs for DP 1.4.

The terrain is noticeably more detailed on the 1080.

FYI this starts right at the beginning of the benchmark comparison.

This event was a cringefest once again!

I will never waste my time with such a self-shaming presentation. Why are the AMd events always so unprofessional? Does nobody speak english at an american company?

Everyone seems happy for the RX480 @200$+. I say this is not enough. New games will be made for 980 Ti / 1070 performance class. Next year Vega and the rumored GP102 will raise the bar even higher. In my opinion a card like the RX480 will be an upgrade into a deadend, except the player is reducting details dramatically or plays older games only.

Besides this, AMD seems to have cheated in the Ashes Benchmark.

There is just more snow on the polaris and 980ti run. Maybe then you should also compare the 980ti @ crazy settings with the more detailed 1080

Is this video still being debated? Ashes of Singularity uses procedural terrain generation and it's a video. AoS benchmark results comparing the 1080 and crossfire Polaris 10 have been available long before this and yes, it did score higher under 1440p Crazy.

I had made several offers to people for a USED Titan for $300 before the 1070 and Polaris launch. I wonder what they're thinking now that the value of their cards has been reduced dramatically, assuming OCN user care about warranty and don't mind older, used products.
