Hey d0mini, thanks for your temps, I am running a 1080 (Gigabyte G1), thanks for confirming your temps (nice OC on cpu and GPU by the way smile.gif ) gonna be firing up Doom soon also @1440p on a 144fps IPS panel....temps etc to follow later today wink.gif

wish Intel would get on with it and release desktop Kaby already, oh well only a cpl of qtrs 2 go frown.gif

@d0mini: Thanks for sharing the results. To what extent do the fans ramp or even pump ramp up during these demanding games, if you'd disable the game sound? Which fans do you have, how many (push, pull or push/pull), and do you at which RPM they are running? Important statistics if you want to get the full picture. Some people don't mind their fans running at 2000+ RPM, but this is not what a lot of others are looking for I think.

Oh damn OP, sorry about that!

My case has three 1850rpm gentle typhoons, with effectively only two of them being used to cool the radiator, while the other cools my GPU's VRMs (using a universal block). My case leaves little room for airflow, so really this is a worst-case scenario. Terrible half pun intended.


My pump runs at 1200-1500 depending on load, my fans are at 800rpm idle and go up to max RPM under demanding loads. I am very much into quiet operation, coil whine annoys me, as does pump noise, etc. I find this config to be very quiet at idle, and quiet enough to be able to use speakers instead of headphones while gaming.

So just been playing a bit of Doom ultra settings 144fps (fluctuates a llittle) 1440p, I turned the sound off for a bit to judge noise, and loudest thing is the rear exhaust, thats approx 18inches away from my right shoulder. but it wasn't annoying and totally within tolerance considering closeness of proximity to my right ear.

In terms of temps here is image of real temp and GPU...

I left Doom running in background (still is as I post this) when I took the shot, still getting mhz bouncing between 2113 - 2126, but tbh I don't really care, a stable 2.1ghz and reasonable temps, yes I could squeeze another 240 raddie in the front really make things whisper quiet and cool, but I'm happy.

Any thoughts on adding 2 extra fans for push-pull configuration or it is a waste of time and money?

The radiator is not that dense or thick, I doubt you'll see big temp drops from push/pull. Unless you want to keep your fans at sub 750rpm at all time, then maybe its worth it.

Adding two more fans in push / pull config will only help if looking to reduce noise levels while maintaining a good temp. In truth surface area of your radiator configuration is better than thickness. or push/pull....So if you have capacity in your case to add another radiator I would go that route...yes its more expensive than adding 2 more fans, but your results will be better in terms of temps and noise as you would be able to keep fan RPM at minimum.
