EK making their own HB SLI Bridge? - Page 2

There are two ways the new 1000 series Nvidia cards have increased the SLI bridge bandwidth.

  1. The new SLI interface runs at 650 MHz, instead of the 400 MHz of older cards. Some older bridges might be compatible with the new clock speed, but that would almost certainly exclude any of the old ribbon connectors and only selected pcb type bridges will work at the higher frequency.
  2. Secondly, the new interface teams together both pairs of SLI fingers to effectively double throughput. But you can only do this if you are not using three or four way SLI, which Nvidia no longer recommends anyway.

So using two bridges to connect both pairs of fingers will double your SLI bandwidth. But taking the advantage of the high clock speed will be trickier.

Thank you. That helps a lot. Any suggestions on the best single SLI bridges x2 I could use while I wait for the EKWB's SLI HB?

The pinout is still the same. The 'SLI' processor runs on the chip level, not on the connector.

SLI bridges are passive components, not active. thumb.gif You can use two old SLI bridges from 2007 if you want to.

Will the EVGA V2 LED Bridges work?

These LED bridges (the ones that can be controlled by Geforce Experience LED visualiser) will apparently ramp up to 650Mhz with Pascal and are supposed to be fine for up to 4K/60 (plenty)

So is it just a matter of width that prevents the HB bridge from working? Or does it have to do with the thickness of the metal SLI connectors?

(EVGA are also working on a new HB version of their bridge too apparently)

The sli fingers are just both being used in 2way sli with pascal, instead of just the one per card.
So you could use 2 regular SLI bridges just fine from my understanding.

The reason the HB bridge doesn't work is due to the aesthetic dimensions.

Is there any update on the EK HB bridges for the GTX1080
No recent news but the last info was that it would be somewhere in August.

akira749 posted that 4 days ago.

Since they haven't designed the new Nvidia Titan X waterblocks, can we put in a request for it to be designed with the compatibility of the HB SLI bridge in mind?
