EK making their own HB SLI Bridge? - Page 4

I think it's fair to say that the task is not simple or we'd have the EK bridges in our possession already.

It is pretty disappointing though. Is it still going to be released eventually or is that now uncertain? I'd like to know before I void the return of my GPU blocks.

Any news yet? Asus doesn't seem to be making one and buying msi or evga would feel wrong since I'm using strix cards...

Considering multiple companies have had theirs out for months now i'd say that's not true. Go watch Der8auer's video on youtube where he had hb bridges along with flex bridges, ASUS hard bridges, and EVGA LED bridges etc.. sent to a lab to have x-ray analysis done on them. He found that there's basically NO difference in the actual hardware of the bridges, only dual connectors, slightly higher solder quality, and that it runs at 650mhz....how exactly would that be so much harder than other bridges are to make? And it's not like they'd need to make the PCB from scratch either! They could simply buy up some HB bridge PCB's from Nvidia and add their own EK style top to them without pointed parts... We already have Nvidia ones, we have EVGA ones, there's a few MSI ones floating around etc.. there's just no reason why there shouldn't be an EK one by now; especially since it's EK's fault that we need a fix in the first place. Nobody has been able to supply a satisfactory reason why the block design couldn't be slightly altered to fix this issue; all they'd need to do is move the ports over a quarter inch or so at most...or just do something more akin to how their already existing "CSQ" blocks used to work, with the ports being on the BOTTOM of the block etc.. Or they could even just change the design of the port connector so that there's a small space carved into it leaving room for the pointy bits of the bridge.

Honestly if i had known this i would've never got a TITAN X block, i'm sitting here with my block still sealed in the cellophane wrapping unable to use it as i don't want to buy a 2nd block till they fix this problem. If i'd known about this i would've just not got waterblocks and got the CPU i was thinking of buying instead; hell i'd have preferred to run these on air permanently if i knew things would be this slow. sadly i'm stuck with this useless block and can't afford the CPU at the moment after paying for the shipping and block etc.. So i'll have to wait to save up enough for the CPU and then STILL wait for them to get a fix so i can get a 2nd block or just sell this one.

Ya I'm waiting on this bridge to come out before I even consider a 2nd titan xp.... so i'm stuck setting up my new rig with one gpu in the loop knowing ill have to change it all whenever EK solves this issue...

Yeah it sucks. It's already approaching mid september soon here and we were told mid August as an initial estimate. I seriously don't know what's going on here, but it's legitimately offputting to say the least. I love EK but this is the kinda stuff that makes me not want to buy stuff from them; they seem awfully opposed to taking responsibility for anything they ever do wrong and take forever to even fix it if they ever do.

The most infuriating thing though is that they seem to have plenty of time to put out waterblocks for every obscure motherboard VRM section under the sun, even ones nobody really buys; but not this....

I honestly know how you feel. My second 1080 is waiting for this. I suppose I'll just try two standard bridges until it's released. I guess I just assumed that they wouldn't pass on an opportunity to supply the demand and make money if they could, but the lack of ETA is seriously concerning.

I went ahead with Nvidia's HB SLI bridge for my 2x Titan X Pascals and just cut off the tips with a Dremel to get them to fit with my EK blocks...

GPU-Z reported my cards in high-bandwidth SLI with 499 GB/s transfer bandwidth and i've had zero issues playing games for the past week. Performance is normal and while yes, this does effectively mean i'll never be able to sell my HB SLI bridge now at least I have a solution without having to use EVGA's bridge (which is never in stock anyways).

FWIW, the tips of Nvidia's HB bridge appears to just be empty PCB space without traces...again, i've had no issues so far. Eventually i'd like to move to a proper HB bridge that i didn't have to cut to get to fit with EK's blocks, but until then my solution works perfect.

The EVGA HB bridge works just fine with EK blocks. No Dremel required.
