mhmm, it may be because their choice of CPU isn't the better ones, but sooner or later they'll also start manufacturing with only an iGPU.
most of the older models of laptops, and certain manufacturers, still uses the older generations of APUs and CPUs, its actually quite rare to see carrizo and kaveri laptops, and even skylake laptops.

so far, the most common cheap laptops have either richland APUs or haswell CPUs.

How about going from 7950 to rx480, any educational guess how much more faster?

I went from 7950 crossfire to a single 290x (judging by all speculation and benches similar to rx480)
And there was a performance boost still, even though the crossfire was in theory the more powerful rig.

So roughly double the performance going by my semi(not so)educated guess.

It should be more than double when we take under account the new platform, 480 should be overall more suited for modern games and it should handle things like tessellation, AA, and post-processing far more easily than earlier models, to extend greater than just the difference in raw crunch performance.

If it's about the speed as a 390X and R9 Fury, it could be about 70-80% faster. I'm upgrading to a RX480 too, though from a 280X.

Should be a pretty good upgrade from my GTX950.

I've got an 880K and 8GBs of DDR3-2400 waiting on one.

Wonder if there will be preorders?

This is what i said in another thread . . .

Card is so affordable one can easily pair it with a cpu that will bottleneck it.

I dont play anything demanding (SC2, RO2, WoT... games like that). So I want to be able to max them at 900p and eventually 1080p for an affordable price... and kinda, stay with ATI /AMD.

Oh ok. Just don't expect a gpu usage of 100%. I know SC2 is a cpu bound game. The low rez will just make matters worst.
