[AMD] Polaris based RX 480 and "High performance solutions" announced at computex - Page 107

They specifically said GDDR5X is available in sufficient quantities and they have no supply issues anywhere.
But you know reality and how slow companies are at shipping stuff out only to drive price up.

Watch the rx480 do good at the 200 dollar price point and nvidia releases the 1060 for 20-30 more and it smokes it. Now was the 480 a good buy? no. Thats like back in the day with the 5870. The 5870 was a good card but it had no competition. THe 480 came out for what 100-150 more beat it by 10-15 percent and also had more vram to boot. Just wait and see how it plays out. Im only going rx 480 as im on a 6 year old gpu and im sure the 480 is way more than anything i will ever need for a long time. But hey if it flops ill just get a used 290x or 980.
With that logic everyone should wait for Vega before purchasing 1070/80.

Thread cleaned and will remain locked for a few minutes.

This is an AMD thread.

Please do not argue about Nvidia products here. It's not fair to the AMD folks.

Anyone who continues will be removed from participating in the thread.

An Iphone with 1200 usd now with a mid end GPU, so sad for my country
No one has used GPUs to mine for quite a long time now. You have nothing to worry about.

Apparently Ethereum mining still uses GPUs and it's still quite popular having the 2nd highest market cap

If you do not pay for electricity and do not use the computer much its fine. Something like RX 480 will probably make $1-2 a day by the time they come out. If you look at it like that its not worth it.
