Just because Nvidia is reaching those speeds doesn't mean AMD won't be competitive or possibly even be faster than Nvidia. That's what he was trying explain.

The GTX 980ti didn't out sell the Fury X just because of their clock speeds.... They outsold the fury X because it just was a bit better, just like Nvidias marketing..
If you really believe the 980ti outsold the Fury X just because of clock speeds you are a whackadoodle..
Vram bottleneck is not pleasant but 2GHz in troublesome titles sounds enticing, I admit...

The way you said it was strict markup. If you said, 'I will pay... because EU/Aus' I would have understood. Your guys' VAT is ridiculous.

Still 1/3 the going 1080 price though there tongue.gif

According to AMD Marketing PR , the 51% represents the CF scalling. This would put Polaris around 70% of the 1080 performance.

This means Polaris is around 980 TI performance on DX 12 AoTS. Right ?

Basically 390x, if we go by AotS benchmark data.

After witnessing some of the polaris pricing reactions, i'm now certain that many people, deserve to be milked to death.
And i'm pretty sure this applies to other tech sectors for them, too.

Is there someone who disliked 480 pricing? I sure liked it because it means GP106 is going to be about as cheap.

remember back in 2008 when ati got 4870 out and forced nvidia to stop producing gtx260? 4870 was on 300 gtx 260 on 400 and gtx 280 on 650... the very same thing will happen here too simply because nvidia is trying so hard to be "premium" that they are locked on their commitment having high prices for every segment..

I just watched that JayZTwoCents video... he sure is a marketeer... speaking about how great the Turbo boost above the guaranteed base clock is, yet forgetting that without it, running at the base clock the GTX 1070 would probably be on par with a 980 and not slightly above a 980 Ti. So it needs those boost clocks. Keeping this simple fact away from consideration does a great thing to skew perspectives on the matter.

And this time around, going by his own graph after playing Doom, it seems that the 1070 is turboing to 2 Ghz, leaving very little headroom on the table.

Those were good times. The 9800 GTX+ and the GTX 260 Core 216 in response, together with lower prices, including of the GTX 280. The HD 4870 and HD 4850 were great cards. But also the HD 4830 (but without the fame of the 8800 GT) and the power sipping HD 4670 (59w TDP) and HD 4650 (48w TDP). I hope we get something like that now.
