[AMD] Polaris based RX 480 and "High performance solutions" announced at computex - Page 9

More than ever I'm wondering what's the Macau's NDA about.
also they said the price point is starting at $199 ? which means there will be a $250 Polaris card too (and 2 of such make a $500 CF) ? one with 8GB VRAM ? and $199 = 4GB ?

this makes me think the 199 version is 970 level (entry point for VR) and the $250 one - 980 level

.. but its hard to know, since, you know, they didnt say squat about performance outside "VR premium" rolleyes.gif

Wouldn't a 4GB card have issue with VR because of needed high resolution and refresh rates? I'd love to see how much the 8GB card will cost though, that 4 GB seems to be a wee bit too small for my 1440p/4k gaming!

Its for the Polaris stack... the RX 480 may be just one of the cards - Raja hinted for $200 -$300... so far the only thing confirmed with a price is the $199 RX 480 card.

But they are all 256 memory bus(t).

What's wrong with a 256 bit bus?

with 5.5 tflops near 970? lol 980ti has 5.6 and 980 4.6 good luck with that

What if nvidia announces a $230 GTX1060 and it turns out to be just about as good as this?
Because it's likely.
Comparing a crossfire RX480 to a much higher tier, and winning the bang-4-the-buck is nothing we haven't seen before.
And they're using AotS. How convenient.
I'm not saying this is not good, but is it THAT special?

What's wrong with a 384Bit that came with the 980 Ti and for sure will come with the 1080 Ti? Prolly same price.

$700 before taxes and other fees.

well considering most big companies are pushing for dx12 i dont see why amd would showcase dx11

dont forget that people kept saying on the era of 5xxx cards that dx11 wont even survive..

So AMD have no response to the 1080 or 1070 and instead bring out a successor to the 380.. the 480.

All Nvidia need to do is release a 1060 and not only will they have a popular alternative to the 480 but will also be dominating the entire mid-high end product category

480 is one third less than the size of the 1060 die. wink.gif
