[TPU] AMD Radeon RX 480 Clock Speeds Revealed, Clocked Above 1.2 GHz - Page 3

If this clock holds true, its already at the level of 390X (provided its not gimped in some other ways like ROPs, memory bandwidth...)

If retail versions clock even higher and if GCN4 has some arch improvements, this could reach into fury territory. thumb.gifthumb.gif

I dunno. It is so cheap, I assume the pcb will have bare minimum.

no, the GDDR5X mass production isn't ready yet, Micron as the only company producing GDDR5X can only supply for a few units at best, unless you want the rest of the cards delayed it won't be possible.

but if what i'm thinking is correct, they'd go with 480/490 with the regular GDDR5, where as the 480X/490X will have the new GDDR5X.

Well it is a fairly low power card, and AIBs have more freedom from AMD than they do with green team cards. If it does have good OC headroom, we'll definitely see AIBs release high-clocked versions for $20 extra since that value is hard to beat.

Of course the last time we hoped for an "overclockers dream," for an AMD GPU, we were left sorely disappointed (cough, looking at my Fury-X).

If the RX 480 (or whatever) gets to market pretty soon though, it will definitely be a good first step for AMD to start clawing back some market share.

Raja said in the presentation that it has premium components like the top end cards.

Yes but the price difference is you can do a 3xCF vs 1x980Ti lol Say you get a used 980Ti it's still gonna be 2xCF vs 1x 980Ti for the price.

---

Too bad they have to mess up the VRAM and make 2 versions, hopefully the 8GB will be the most seen in shops. I don't know why they simply didn't make one version with 6GB as that would have been enough for the power this card has.

around 10% faster than 390x/GTX980
