Or within margin of error from 390 or 970. No matter how you look, first version is unlikely to impress. In 2 years it will probably come within 10% from 1070 though biggrin.gif

Are you referring to the 480? It's not a rebrand as it has the new GCN 4.0 architecture. As for not being below 250CDN, that's just a reality of the CDN dollar. It won't be 199 anywhere else in the world other than the US.

Got to sell my 290 so I can get this 480, I want a low wattage GPU.

I can't dig up the source, but didn't AMD remove that aspect of their GPU for this gen of cards? I could have sworn I read it somewhere.

To be completely and brutally honest I had higher hopes for 2016. GTX 1080@700$ and RX480 on par with my 3year old card is simply not doing it for me. It looks like it is going to be another "meh" year.

I know the year is not over yet, but I feel like there is nothing left in 2016. Big cards will probably be 2017.

Isn't Vega due out in October?

How has this rumor not died yet? AMD said very specifically and adamantly 2017. Full stop. Do not pass go. Period.

The best we can hope for from AMD is a larger Polaris then the one demoed at Computex.

Anyways, I am not too convinced at polaris running cool right now. Either way, paying roughly the same amount of performances 1 year ago with lower power consumption DOESNT count as a win in my book.
where could you get 390X 8GB for $230 last year? AMD has given us a 390x at 960 prices - 80% of the market calls that a win.

Anyhow, I'm surprised that we haven't heard much about Polaris11,but I suppose OEMs have already taken all the chips for the foreseeable future.

About Vega, AMD wil do the same as they did with Polaris - they will preview the architecture against a 1080 4 months before release. I'm worried that it will be a repeat of Fury though, don't think the market is ready for HBM2.

Anyone know packaging costs for HBM?
